A dedicated artistic effort During the Community Paint Day and Kids’ Wellness Fair on Nov. 15, more than 100 volunteers added their own brushstrokes to a mural inspired by Sarasota’s coastal beauty on the lifeguard building at Arlington Park Aquatic Complex. The project entered the spotlight again Jan. 12, as the city hosted a dedication ceremony, attended by artist Alissa Silvers, who led the project. “This work responds beautifully to its surroundings,” said Jonathan Parks, chair of the Public Art Committee. “Flowing forms, wavelength movements and bold personal color echo Sarasota’s coastal energy and native landscape, while subtle aquatic details tie the artwork directly to this beloved place.”

A workspace to support learning For 37 years, the Education Foundation of Sarasota County was headquartered at The Landings, the School District of Sarasota County’s administrative complex. However, as its reach expanded, its presence became centered in the community. On Jan. 12, the foundation held a ribbon-cutting for its office at 2000 Webber St., officially naming the space the Tom and Sherry Koski LaunchPad for donors Tom and Sherry Koski. The office’s features include expanded capacity for meetings and community gatherings and a podcast studio. $0.10
