Booker High senior Myles Summerlin is one of six statewide winners of Take Stock in Children’s Leaders for Life fellowships. Summerlin was selected from more than 100 applicants to be one of a dozen finalists and then was recently chosen for the $40,000 scholarship. Take Stock in Children in Sarasota County chooses its scholars in sixth through ninth grade through a process based upon need, academic achievement, consistent attendance and good character. Scholars who are selected for TSIC agree to meet weekly with their mentor, remain crime, gang, drug, and alcohol free and maintain a 2.5 GPA.
