+ Buffett’s Super Bowl bet: Broncos Will the Denver Broncos or Seattle Seahawks win Super Bowl XLVII Sunday? If you’re making a bet, the smart money’s on the Broncos. That’s because Mote Marine Aquarium resident manatee Buffett placed his bet by swimming to a target with the Broncos’ logo Friday. Buffett has picked the winner correctly for six consecutive years. His half-brother, Hugh, disagreed and swam to the Seahawks’ target. Although he doesn’t have a perfect scorecard, his record is still pretty good: Hugh has picked the correct Super Bowl team the last four out of six years.

Holmes Beach developer Shawn Kaleta plans to build a gated subdivision with nine single-family homes on an undeveloped 3.48-acre Gulf-front property. Kaleta closed on the purchase of the parcel at 5005 Gulf of Mexico Drive, located between Positano on the south and Club Longboat on the north, last week

for $6.4 million from K. Judson “Jud” Boedecker III, as trustee of the Cary Jay Morrison Trust, according to Manatee County property records. Boedecker is a partner in Southwest Florida Homes Inc. Gabe Buky, of the Buky Team at Coldwell Banker Residential Real Estate’s Longboat Key office, was the sales agent.

Earlier this month, Kaleta submitted pre-application materials to the Longboat Key Planning, Zoning and Building Department to construct a ninehome community that’s named Bonaire, after the Dutch West Indies island of Bonaire.

LEGAL DECISION LINGERS by Kurt Schultheis | Managing Editor

Colony ruling delayed again until February Attorneys in the Colony Beach & Tennis Resort bankruptcy case continue to debate whether a settlement agreement is legal and if it can be approved next month. Those expecting U.S. Bankruptcy Judge K. Rodney May to rule on a proposed Colony Beach & Tennis Resort left his Tampa courtroom Monday disappointed — again. May stated in December he would make a decision on Colony matters at Monday’s hear-

ing, but as soon as the hearing started he said he would not be making a ruling. “I want to bring this in for a landing in the next 10 to 15 days,” May said. “I will make a ruling on Feb. 10.” May used the hearing to ask if there were any new develop-

ments in the case. Although there were a few procedural matters disclosed, attorneys used the morning session to make their cases yet again for why a proposed Colony settlement should or should not be approved. That settlement gives $3 mil-

lion to longtime Colony owner Dr. Murray “Murf” Klauber and gives $2.3 million to a U.S. bankruptcy Chapter 7 trustee to pay creditors. An amendment to the settle-
