St. Lucie County Assistant Director of Growth Management/Building and Code Regulation Manager Robin D. Meyer has accepted the position of Longboat Key Planning, Zoning & Building director. Meyer, 61, will assume the role May 14. “I always try to grow my career, and
this was a very unique opportunity,” he said. “It’s a beautiful community. There appeared to be a lot of unique challenges.” Meyer was selected from an initial pool of 62 applicants, five of whom a panel interviewed April 2. He will earn an annual salary of $93,000, and his employment will include a six-
month probationary period. According to an April 13 letter offering Meyer the position, Meyer has indicated to Town Manager David Bullock that he intends to be employed by the town for a mini-

+ Mues receives birthday wishes If you tried to guess Ed Mues’ age, you’d probably get it wrong. He sure doesn’t look it. On April 12, Mues celebrated his 95th birthday. The morning of, he received a birthday serenade from fellow Kiwanis Club of Longboat Key members. Happy birthday!
+ Vickie reunites with her mate The lovebirds are back together. While Vickie the swan was getting treatment at Save Our Seabirds to help an infection, Henry was missing her greatly. Swankeeper David Novak reports that upon her return, Vickie bolted for the water and conducted a 10-second neck rub with Henry. She seemed back to normal as she dove in the water, using smooth-foot strokes.

Adams buys 19 Colony units A company owned by W. Andrew Adams recently purchased 19 Colony units. Many unit owners, however, are still unsure of their next step. Unit owners have three options in a proposal put forth by The Colony Beach & Tennis Resort Association’s redevelopment partner, Club Holdings Ventures LLC: whole ownership, one-eighth fractional ownership or a buyout.
But, although unit owners are weighing the merits of the proposal and its costs, one unit owner is increasing his stake in the property: Colony Beach Investors LLC, which lists W. Andrew “Andy” Adams as its managing member, purchased 19
units in February and March. Adams owns at least five additional Colony units, according to property records, while Adams’ son, William A. Adams, owns at least two
ON HOLD U.S. Bankruptcy Judge K. Rodney May was scheduled to preside over hearings ordered by U.S. District Judge Steven D. Merryday to determine one of two scenarios in which the Partnership would receive damages and consider the Association’s counterclaims Wednesday, April 25. At press time, the case was still listed on May’s case docket, however, both Association Board President Jay Yablon and longtime Colony President/ General Manager Katie Klauber Moulton told the Longboat Observer that the hearings would likely be rescheduled.
