Strolling into forever Life on Longboat Key can be so engaging, which regular visitor Heather Durham learned when her now-fiance, Dennis Hurl, got down on one knee Aug. 9. Durham said yes to her boyfriend of nearly four years while they were on a beach walk behind the Resort at the Longboat Key Club. This was their second year staying at the same hotel, in the same room, and already the island felt like home. Durham was thrilled that Hurl proposed to her there and said it was perfect among the beauty of the island. Durham and Hurl have been together since 2017.

Traffic was bumper to bumper last week on Ringling Bridge from St. Armands Circle to downtown Sarasota.
One man’s trash is another man’s treasure — and vice versa. If you’re feeling the need to offload possessions, take your things to St. Mary, Star of the Sea, Catholic Church. Starting Sept. 1, the women’s guild will start collecting for the Royal Rummage sale, which for now is planned for March 4 and 5. On the other hand, if you have the shopping itch or want to update the house with the changing seasons, head to the Lord’s Warehouse at 6200 Gulf of Mexico Drive. It closes for the month Sept. 1 and until then is having a blowout sale.
