Is Beer Can Island feeling the Bern?

CEE EDMUNDSON

Did Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders swing the Beer Can Island vote? Probably not, because no one lives there. But Longboat Key police are pursuing a lead on the suspect responsible for painting driftwood trees with slogans touting Sanders this weekend, said Chief Pete Cumming. If caught, the suspect would face misdemeanor charges. A Facebook post with pictures of the trees adorned with slogans such as “Feel the Bern” has been shared more than 1,000 times. Public Works staff is working this week to figure out how to remove the graffiti.
