hat do Niagara Falls, the Grand Canyon, Chicago skyscrapers and Longboat Key power poles have in common? Soon, Nik Wallenda will have defied death by crossing them all.

Due to the increase in the popularity of golf on Longboat Key, bike lanes along Gulf of Mexico Drive will be removed to accommodate golf carts. “I don’t know a single person who doesn’t golf on Longboat Key,” resident Jay Walker said. “It’s a big pain to not be able to drive right home in a cart after a morning of golf.” Construction will begin next month.

Observer turned upside-down by printing error Oops, we did it again…and again…and again… When the Observer launched its new Black Tie/ Arts & Entertainment section Oct. 15, we inadvertently published half the section upside-down. Then, through a rare feat made possible by a combination of technical glitches and miscommunications, we repeated that error for each of the 24 issues since then. Due to a vigilant reader, we’re finally aware of our mistake. Thanks to our faithful readers for quietly standing by and understanding that even the most observant Observers make a mistake, or 24 on occasion. At least no one can say we’re one-sided.
