Tea and tulips

Spring is in the air and you know what that means: new fashion trends. The Women’s Guild at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church hosted its 35th annual fashion show on March 11 at the Sarasota Yacht Club. The event was organized by Kathi Shamlian and Teri Scaring. Nine guild members modeled the latest fashions from Florida-based retailer Evelyn and Arthur. The models were escorted by Frank Toomey and Mike Nuzzo. Makeup was done by Rachel Everhart with Mary Kay cosmetics. Aliki Gable from Evelyn and Arthur emceed the show while the women walked down the runway. Over 25 gift baskets and prizes were raffled during the show. All proceeds will be donated by the guild to local nonprofits. This year’s theme was “Tea and Tulips.” President Cindy Noble said the vibrant centerpieces of colorful tulips and teacups captured the season perfectly and made her excited for spring.
