The residents of Seaplace may wear aprons as often as swimsuits. The grills and griddles were hot on Feb. 18 for the condominiums’ annual pancake breakfast. It was a gorgeous Saturday morning, so breakfast stayed outside on the patio. The menu was fluffy pancakes with grilled sausages from Detwiler’s Farm Market and a side of art. The clubhouse was turned into an art gallery for the day, where residents could display anything they’ve painted or made. The pieces ranged from original oil paintings to handmade cards and jewelry. Many of the items were up for sale, and Madeline Wikler gave a watercolor painting demonstration following breakfast.

Bishop goes to Washington
A tour of music. INSIDE
Commissioner BJ Bishop recently arrived back to the barrier island after a trip to Washington, D.C., where she acted as the Longboat Key representative to the Manasota League of Cities. She acted as the Key’s representative when discussing with members of Florida’s congressional delegation key issues that affect municipalities. Some of those issues include cybersecurity funding, community development block grants and reauthorization of the National Flood Insurance Program. “It was a great trip,” Bishop said in a news release. “All of the Senate and House offices we were able to meet with gave us positive feedback on our key issues.” Bishop was accompanied by more than 50 other city leaders from across the state.
