Fundraiser makes a splash Rick Konsavage is a good sport. The managing director of the Longboat Key Club recently sat in a dunk tank at a summer associate appreciation event. Konsavage let the employees take their best shot at soaking his designer suit. For a good cause, of course. The other directors sat in the tank, too, and the employees stepped right up. Each of the 135 staff members got three throws for free, but they happily paid for extra chances. And for $20, a staffer could skip throwing entirely and just slap the target that sent someone’s boss into the drink. The dunk tank raised $270 for Save Our Seabirds, a bird rescue and education center on City Island.

Sometimes, a book is a mystery. And sometimes, the mystery is the book. Not long ago, a Little Free Library popped up on the corner of Gulf of Mexico Drive and Sloop Lane without anyone taking credit. Enter 20-year residents Roslyn and Scott Schindler, who live just down the street in Country Club Shores. A visit to Denver inspired the idea to install the give-and-take library, which are popular in the MileHigh City. Six months ago, the couple put one up in their own neighborhood for neighbors to enjoy. “Some neighbors have come over and said how much they like it,” Roslyn said.
