Jason Wysong and Laura Campbell
Improving ‘Tara-dise’ Laura Campbell, the principal of Tara Elementary School, said the school often is referred to as “Tara-dise,” an educational paradise for students and staff. Campbell (above with Superintendent Jason Wysong) looks forward to improvement of the “Tara-dise” facilities as the school undergoes a renovation, and a four-classroom addition is constructed on campus. “We will be able to say we have the best people, students and a wonderful, beautiful building that’s vibrant and where children are going to thrive for years,” Campbell said during a groundbreaking ceremony at the school Oct. 6. The nearly $35.3 million project includes the construction of a four-classroom addition, removal of portables and renovation of all buildings.

Emma Evans and Michael Pahr
Meeting at the net in Waterside Place Emma Evans and Michael Pahr (above) had just met playing volleyball Oct. 4 at Waterside Place. While the competition in the every Wednesday event is fun, the social part of the MVP Sports and Social league is just as important. The social aspect is why teams aren’t formed until the day of the event. “Everybody shows up, and they randomly pick four people on a team,” Evans said. “Then you play a tournament throughout the night just for fun.” There were more players than courts on Oct. 4. Evans and Pahr’s foursome were volleying off to the side and others brought folding chairs to wait their turn. Wednesday sunset games run from 6-7 p.m., are open to all levels and are free to play. MVP also runs leagues on Thursdays and Sundays at Waterside and it costs $62 to join one of those leagues.
