Luau for Maui

Lois Walle, a resident at Cypress Springs Gracious Retirement Living, put on her most tropical outfit and headed to lunch Aug. 15. She enjoyed the buffet available during the retirement facility’s Hawaiian Luau event. Valerie Herzfeld, a Hawaiian luau dancer, then performed for the residents. The luau, which had been previously planned, was turned into a fundraiser for Maui United Way after staff learned of the wildfires scorching Maui in Hawaii. Staff and residents raised $400.

A new look for the community After 20 years of providing surgical and non-surgical cosmetic services in Southwest Florida from Fort Myers to Naples, Azul Cosmetic Surgery and Medical Spa expanded north to open an office in Lakewood Ranch. The new office off University Parkway marks the company’s sixth location. “Lakewood Ranch is a vibrant and rapidly developing community, and we are thrilled to be a part of that growth,” Founder Dr. Patrick Flaharty said. “We are incredibly grateful for the warm welcome from the many businesses and residents of Lakewood Ranch.” The spa held a grand opening Aug. 24 to meet residents and showcase their services, which range from non-invasive skin care to injectables, lasers and surgery.
