New Crop ready for harvest Karen Odierna (above) is hoping for a smoothie transition. She founded Crop Juice in Sarasota in 2013 and now is opening another store at Waterside Place to serve organic, vegan, and gluten-free products. Odierna said she needed to get closer to Lakewood Ranch residents, who have been pushing her to do so. “We wanted to be a part of this community for the people that are truly the Lakewood Ranch crowd,” she said. Odierna noted that those with special dietary needs gravitate to her store. Gianna Coluzzi of Greenbrook, who identified herself as a “crop juice lover,” said she loves the new convenience. Odierna runs the store alongside her fiancé, Keith Campbell. The store is open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday, and on Sunday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., much of which is during the farmer’s market.

Rain can’t dampen Music on Main Lakewood National’s Sal Piscitelli and his wife, Christine Piscitelli, wouldn’t let a little rain stop them from attending Music on Main July 1 at Main Street at Lakewood Ranch. “We were at home and saw (the sky) was clearing up so we decided to give it a shot,” Sal Piscitelli said. “What’s the worse that could happen?” The couple grabbed an umbrella and found a bench and an awning outside Remy’s on Main. “We’ve lived here 16 years, and we come (to Music on Main) as often as we can,” Sal Piscitelli said. “We love being outside, being around people and hearing good music.”
