She has twice the competitive spirit Lakewood Ranch’s Zory Tolstov was ready for the challenge. On April 30, Tolstov ran the 5K run portion of the SUP and Run 5K Challenge at Nathan Benderson Park. The race saw participants compete in a 5K run, a 5K paddle-boarding race, or both. Tolstov finished ninth in the women’s class of the 5K race and said the event gave her the opportunity to get into shape after the birth of her 16-monthold twins, Julian and Danika Tolstov. She said that next year, in addition to lowering her run time below 20 minutes, she hopes to be involved in the paddleboarding competition as well. She said it would be a great full-body workout. The event benefited Operation Second Chance (which benefits injured veterans) and RUCK9 (which benefits disabled dogs).

Isabelle Ritter’s “Seven Last Words” as an audience of two people sat in metal chairs listening intently. Coker, 85, might as well have been playing with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra behind her as she became lost in the music, her fingers gliding across the keys and her head gently moving forward on certain notes for emphasis. Surrounding Coker on the floor were various toys, such as a stuffed plush rabbit, a plastic horse on wheels and a little girl’s kitchen set.
