Not your typical spring break Three Lakewood Ranch High School teens headed to the desert for spring break ... to do good. Sophomores Emma Bramley and Brooke Martin and junior Schae Mays (Martin and Mays are pictured above) went on a mission trip to Gallup, N.M., along with 11 other members of Bayside Community Church. Bramley said they put siding on a house and helped feed homeless people. All three of the girls are on the Lakewood Ranch High School dance team, the Silver Stars.

hree weeks following a March 16 utility vehicle accident that cost him most of his left hand, 9-year-old Landon Marazon returned home from Tampa General Hospital to continue a life that seemingly would be different. His father, Daryl Marazon, watched, though, as Landon put a baseball game into his Xbox at their Myakka City home. SEE LANDON, PAGE 8

Kickin’ it River Club’s Paddi Juliano and her son, Nico, (above) wore their lucky socks to Braden River Elementary School’s mother-son kickball game April 6 and both were confident they would help their team win. “I’m going to beat her,” said 11-year-old Nico with a grin. In the end, Nico helped the Sons team beat the Moms, 29-25.
