Turkey time Six-year-old Vivian Bower (above) did not mind being a turkey Nov. 15. She and the other 119 kindergartners at Gilbert W. McNeal Elementary School gave a Thanksgiving-inspired performance with songs and dances focused on turkeys. “It’s fun being a turkey,” said Vivian, who practiced turkey songs and dances Nov. 11 while dressed as a princess during her birthday party.

Giving tree Each year, Chloe Wetherington (above) and her mom, Joy, love watching the community come together to help others in need. They help with RiverLife Church’s annual Buy a Tree, Change a Life tree sale event, which raises money for nonprofits and people in need. This year’s sale of 300 North Carolina Fraser firs starts Nov. 18 at Riverlife, 1012 Morgan Johnson Road, Bradenton. The event has raised more than $37,000 for charity in two years. Trees sold out last year in just 10 days.
