Birds of a feather eat together After finishing a delicious meal at a restaurant on Main Street at Lakewood Ranch, two sandhill cranes were so full that they had to take a break from walking back to their home. They rested in the shade before window shopping at Naples Soap Co. After their break, the cranes continued on their journey home.

Learning to save a life Country Club East’s Barbara Petrus used all her strength as she pushed down in a steady rhythm on the ribs of mannequin in hopes of reviving it. Petrus said learning hands-only CPR is crucial. She and her husband, Paul, attended Lakewood Ranch Community Activities’ hands-only CPR class Sept. 18 at Summerfield Community Park as a refresher. “It’s life-saving,” Paul Petrus said. “You don’t want to stand there going, ‘What do I do?’”
