Dads, daughters make some waves Teagan Davis, a fourth grader at Gene Witt Elementary School, looked like a mermaid April 8 with her blue and purple tutu and top. She lit up the dance floor with her father, Josh Davis, during the school’s Enchantment Under the Sea father-daughter dance. “We haven’t been to (a father-daughter dance) in two years, so it’s very exciting to be able to do this,” Josh Davis said. “We won’t get to do this when she’s older.” Teagan Davis was excited to hear the various songs she could dance to with her father and have fun with him and friends.

River Club’s Dave Robinson said goodbye April 9 to a soccer program he founded and developed over the past 15 years. In 2007, Robinson founded a branch of TOPSoccer, a program focused on children with special needs that features “buddies” who play alongside each athlete. Robinson has since become chairperson of the nationwide TOPSoccer organization. “It’s been life changing,” Robinson said. “I’ve met so many awesome kids. I’ve enjoyed seeing the same kids over time and meeting new kids as well. I hope that after I move, the great progress I have seen here continues.” Robinson is headed to Denver, Colorado, for a new job. Gabriel Galindo, who is 14 and has been with the program since 2016, said working with Robinson has been a great experience. “Coach Dave taught us well,” Galindo said. “I was kind of nervous when we first started, but since then, I have been making goals and winning for the team.”
