Restaurant owner’s support noted by vets Lakewood Ranch’s John Breiner, who owns Wolves Head Pizza & Wings, has long been known as a business owner who supports the community’s charitable events. One of his favorite events has been the Tribute to Heroes parade, an annual event to honor veterans at Main Street at Lakewood Ranch. Breiner and Gene Sweeney cofounded the event in 2009. Breiner also supports other causes that benefit veterans. His support of veterans was noted on Veterans Day Nov. 11 as Edwin Robinson (above with Breiner), the chair of the Manatee County Veterans Council, presented Breiner with an award as the council’s “Civilian of the Year.” The event was held at Veterans Park in Bradenton.

We want to hear from you Life is full of roses — and thorns — that we experience every day. And in the Observer’s new column, Rants & Raves, we want to hear about both. But we need your help. This column will be an open, anonymous community hub where you can share what’s going great and also what you think is not so great. Want to give someone a shoutout for helping you change a tire in the rain? That would be a rave. Unhappy about the new traffic pattern to accommodate a roundabout in progress? That would be a rant — and probably a popular one at that. There are two ways to submit your rant or rave. The first is to leave a message with whatever you want to say on our voicemail at 366-3468, ext. 798. The second is to email us at RantsAndRaves@YourObserver.com. Call or email to help get us started. We can’t wait to hear what you have to say.

Greg Campbell, the executive chef and director of operations at Grove, doesn’t use exact measurements when making his stuffing but instead uses his eyes to judge the proper amount needed.
