Bradenton woman dies in traffic accident

Career fair held at MTC

Bradenton’s Ashley Amelia Shore, 24, died in a two-car crash Nov. 19 in Lakewood Ranch. According to a Florida High-

Manatee Technical College in Bradenton is hosting its third annual Career and Hiring Fest in partnership with CareerSource Suncoast.

The job fair will be held 3 to 6 p.m. Dec. 7 to help people find jobs and learn about educational opportunities. More than 40 companies will be on hand along with MTC personnel highlighting 20 programs and answering questions about enrollment and financial aid. Tours of MTC will be available. “This event is open to the public and meant to benefit everyone in our community,” said Barbara Lasser, MTC’s marketing instructor and SkillsUSA adviser, in a release. Goodwill donates turkeys Goodwill Ambassadors from the First United Methodist Church of Sarasota donated 30 turkeys and Thanksgiving baskets to clients of Goodwill Manasota’s Veterans Services program Nov. 16 at the Goodwill Veterans Services Program offices on Lockwood Ridge Road. Thirty veterans, 15 each from Manatee and Sarasota counties, collected the gifts. “It is hard to imagine how devastating this time of year can for those who can’t afford the elaborate Thanksgiving meal that many of us might take for granted,” said Bob Rosinsky, president and CEO of Goodwill Manasota, in a release.

The Mall at University Town Center recently made two upper-level management changes. Amy Grundman, a strategic communication manager for The Taubman Co., which operates the mall, confirmed The Mall at UTC is seeking a new general manager and marketing sponsorship director. As of Friday, general manager Octavio Ortiz and marketing sponsoring director Kim Dominguez were no longer with

the mall. Asked about replacements, Grundman wrote in a text “A seasoned management team of two Taubman employees are in place for the interim to help with the transition.” Ortiz managed the mall since its opening in October 2014. Ortiz had been in charge of all shopping center operations as well as retailer and community relations. UTC, the $315 million shopping center developed by Taubman and Benderson Development Co., is made up of more than 100 speciality stores and

UTC Mall changes leadership

way Patrol report, at 1:30 a.m., Shore was turning onto State Road 64 in a 1994 Honda Civic from Lakewood Ranch Boulevard and collided with an eastbound 2013 Dodge Charger driven by Mason Tyler Alliano, 19, of Windemere. Alliano is in serious condition. One passenger in the car with Alliano, 18-year-old Taylor Brianne Johnson of Bradenton, suffered minor injuries. Another passenger, a 17-year-old from Myakka City, suffered no injuries. The other vehicle had no passengers. In was not known if alcohol was a factor pending an investigation. The Florida Highway Patrol report stated Alliano was driving eastbound in the center through lane. Shore’s car was stopped facing north on Lakewood Ranch Boulevard in the outside left turn lane with a red traffic signal. Both vehicles entered the intersection at the same time and collided. Anyone with additional information about the crash is asked to contact the Florida Highway Patrol.
