A triumphant celebration Mason Gogoel had a reason to be jumping in celebration on Nov. 3 at Greenbrook Adventure Park in Lakewood Ranch. The 4-year-old had just kicked the final goal for the Peewee Soccer program that’s hosted by Lakewood Ranch Community Activities. Kirsten Gogoel said the program has been great in allowing her son, Mason, to make new friends. “I thought this would be great for him to get out, meet other people and be able to socialize,” she said as Mason charged toward the park’s playground after the session. “He has so much energy, and he’d run around and play all day if he could.’ Lakewood Ranch Community Activities Director Chris McComas said the Peewee Soccer program is now off until early in 2022.

Passion meets history in a car East County’s Dawson Blackmore Jr. always wanted an ambulance. He spent 50 years as a medic in Connecticut. So when he saw a 1957 DeSoto Memphian ambulance in 1997, he had to have it. Blackmore showed off his ambulance, which was used in Arizona from 1957 to 1972, at a car show Nov. 3 at Main Street at Lakewood Ranch. The ambulance only had 68,000 miles on it when Blackmore bought it, and it wasn’t running. After an hour working with a mechanic, they were able to have the engine running again. “I wanted it to teach people the history of (Emergency Medical Services),” Blackmore said.
