+ Couple celebrates 50 fabulous years Longboat Key residents Ian and Audrey Sharp celebrated 50 golden years Aug. 10, at the Deerhurst Resort, in Ontario, with their family. The couple married Aug. 10, 1963, in Toronto. At the anniversary celebration, the couple found a flower arrangement in their room that looked familiar. Their family had sent a photo of the original arrangement of pink gladioli and carnations from their wedding to a florist who recreated the arrangement for the special occasion.

Three Dr. Murray “Murf” Klauber-owned entities filed a “Global Compromise and settlement” Aug. 26, for Colony Beach & Tennis Resort parties with the Tampa-based U.S. Bankruptcy Court’s Middle District of Florida. There’s only one problem. The settlement is not signed by any

of the parties. And where dollar signs and numbers should exist, there, instead, are black marker redacted lines. When reached for comment Aug. 30, several Colony parties insisted negotiations are ongoing and could be finished soon — possibly this week. Longtime Colony General

Manager Katie Klauber Moulton said that a bankruptcy hearing scheduled for Thursday in Tampa to review the reorganization plan could possibly be the venue used to announce the signed agreement. “We are absolutely making progress and are hopeful we will have a signed agreement soon,”

Moulton said. “It’s been agreed to in theory by some of the parties.” “Some of the parties” are the key words in that statement, though, according to Colony Lender LLC principal David Siegal.

Vice Mayor David Brenner will not seek a third and final two-year term in March for the District 3 seat on the Longboat Key Town Commission. Brenner told the Longboat Observer Tuesday afternoon that he spent 10 days in France with his wife, Maggie, enjoying a summer vacation and mulling whether he wanted to spend another two years as a town commissioner. “I was kind of leaning this way before we left on our trip,” Brenner said. “I just feel like it’s time.” In an email he sent to Key residents and supporters Tuesday night after the regular commission meeting at Town Hall, Brenner said: “At the end of this term I will be 78 years of age. In two more years, I’ll be 80. There are so many things I want to do with my life that remain, and taking it all up with commission business is not my first choice.” Brenner is a Philadelphia native and certified public accountant who retired in 1983 at age 47, but he left retirement be-
