It’s not every day you hear about a ‘surprise’ wedding. But Lisa Carlyle, owner of Kuki Hair & Beauty Spa, did just that when she arranged a dream wedding for her parents. Here’s her story; Young, naive and sixteen. That was Lisa’s parents, Brian and Irma, almost 43 years ago. They met when Brian asked Irma for directions (and a date) and it was love at first sight! When Irma fell pregnant at sixteen, Brian asked her to marry him immediately, but their wedding day was a disaster. Lisa told us; ‘my parents are wonderful people and I always promised myself that one day I would treat my parents to a wedding they deserved’. She said; ‘I told them I was having a big birthday party’. As Brian and Irma live in Spain, they flew back especially for their daughters ‘birthday party’, only to be told about their surprise wedding on arrival in the UK! (luckily they both said yes!) 100 guests attended the gorgeous black and white themed wedding at Merchant Taylors Hall. The wedding was a great success, and Irma said ‘‘I have never been so nervous but it was the best day of my life. I have finally had the wedding of my dreams’.Who says romance is dead!?
