YHN House (Head Office) Reception doors open 8.00am and close at 5.00pm.

If you are needing access to the building outside of these times you’ll need to use the back doors which is fob access.

Contact Centre / Enquiry Centre Next door to YHN House, this building officially opens at 7.00am and closes as 4.30pm but as you’ll be working there you’ll have fob access to the building at all times suited to your shifts.

The working day Most of us work a standard 7.24hr day with a 30-minute lunch break.

You’ll need to clock in when you arrive at work, clock out for lunch, clock back in after lunch and then clock out again when you leave for the day.

You can clock in at the clock in machines in the buildings (there are a few dotted around the place) or you can do it online via the Kelio (flexi system) tab on the internal intranet - SharePoint.

Please clear and clean your desk at the end of your shift so that the next person who sits there comes in to a tidy environment. You’ll find wipes at the end of the bank of desks and can store your things in your locker.

Lunch time Office kitchens all have fridges, microwaves, toasters and some even have an oven and hob if you like to rustle up your own lunch.

We ask everyone to look after and respect their environments and that means tidying up after ourselves after we’ve made some lunch or a cuppa.

There’s also a stand in reception called Foodworks, which sells hot and cold drinks, snacks, chilled pasta and sandwiches, or, one of your lovely new colleagues will guide you to the nearest shop if you fancy a wander out.

There’s a mini Sainsbury’s within walking distance and there are more shops a little further away along at Four Lane Ends. Foodworks however opens at 8.00am and closes at 2.00pm.

What to wear?

We don’t have a “uniform” at YHN but all we ask is that you dress smartly and remember your lanyard which displays our values as is your handy ID badge.

Please save your football tops and ripped jeans for the weekend.

Smoking Both the Contact Centre / Enquiry Centre and YHN House are non-smoking buildings. There is a smoker stand where you can clock out and go for a quick smoke break located at the rear of the car park to the left of the main entrance.

Transport options If you’re driving, the office site has its own car park. It gets really busy though and we have to double park within the marked bays to fit as many cars in as possible. With that in mind please be careful when driving round the car park, stick to the one-way system at 10mph and register your car registration details on our online system. Click here to access it.

If you are travelling by bus the no.38 Stagecoach bus stops just outside the Freeman Hospital and you can get this bus from Central Station Newcastle.

If you’re a cyclist, there are bike racks within the car park, near the front to the left of the main entrance. We also have shower and changing facilities available within YHN House.
