There are Design projects that we would wish to redo. Some of these badly done projects can be attributed to a bad design brief; while others you just want to hide them for good. The good thing is that it is not the end of the world, the mistakes can be avoided. The worst thing is that every designer will fall in at least one these traps in his or her career.

Here are the worst mistakes that you should be aware of if you find yourself in the territories.

1.Avoiding to proofread No one wants to be reading blogs that have silly phrases or misspellings. Proofreading mistakes can cost you dearly if you are not careful. Most clients will reject a job that has an error, and a reprint cost cuts down your profits.

How to fix it: complete your project. Walk away and come back and redo it again. Repeat it if necessary.

2.Making poor choices of typography A complete project can be destroyed by a typographic mistake. Poor typos include the ones that have typefaces, illegal typography and types that do not match the tone of the context.

3.Build graphics and logos in raster format Graphics like backgrounds or logos need to be designed in vector format. Raster files like digital pictures that are made from millions of pixels. The pixels become evident at some specific sizes.

How to fix it: for graphic elements, use vector formats. Vector format never loses the crisp and clean resolution since it uses curves and lines to form images and not pixels. No matter where you decide to have the graphic element, be it on the mobile, print or anywhere else, it will have the same look across the board.

4.Failing to package files

For the final document that is sent to the clients, you need to send the raw file, image file but as a package with other documents. The package should entail everything that was used for the project.

Multiple problems can be caused by failing to package well. You might find missing photos, replaced fonts and other corrupted elements.

How to fix it: package everything and provide source files that were used to work on the project. Some clients normally mention it as a requirement. You can also use a manual packaging in case the software you are using does not have a packaging function. Create different folders with different contents. One having graphics, the other having fonts and another one having videos or other elements you used. Place the final design in the folder before sending it out.
