Founder’s Message DURING THE LAST two months, I have shared in celebrating the successes of Young Living’s newest and brightest leaders. I love having events that recognize the accomplishments—both big and small—of our distributors who have consistently pursued a life of wellness, purpose, and abundance and who have looked to share that life with others. Over the years I have come to realize that people who are actually achieving the success they’ve dreamed about have done two things: First, they choose to not listen to doubts and fears. They understand that fear, more than anything else, is the one thing that stops you from grabbing astonishing success. Fear is the great paralyzer; it will stop you dead in your tracks and shut down your ability to achieve what you most want. When fear strikes, dismiss it immediately and put positive thoughts in your mind to replace the fear. Every opportunity, dream, or goal you seek is lying outside of your comfort zone, just waiting for you to grab it. A second attribute of really successful people is that they do the little things consistently and persistently. They are masters of the mundane. This idea is so remarkable, because it is so simple but so important. By just doing the little things all the time, you keep yourself dedicated to your “why”—your reason for doing anything you’re doing. If you don’t know what your “why” is, stop everything now and figure it out. Become worthy of being modeled. Become a Young Living leader. Experience the Seed to Seal of success: learn what you need to learn; cultivate your learning through action; and harvest the reward when through your actions, your learning has become knowledge.
GLOBAL LEADERSHIP CRUISE

Breathtakingly beautiful. Awe-inspiring. THOSE ADJECTIVES REALLY don’t adequately describe this year’s Global Leadership Cruise to Alaska, and if you were one of the 422 people from our Young Living family who were fortunate enough to attend, I think you’ll agree.
As the newest member of the YL executive team, this was my first GLC event. Frankly, I was unprepared for how much I would love this experience. The stunning panoramas while at sea and the incredible backdrops while at our various ports quite literally took my breath away. For me, the most memorable of all was our passage through the Tracy Arm Fjord near Juneau, Alaska. I’ll never forget that morning as we gathered on deck in the cold to witness one of the earth’s most spectacular displays of nature. The ports at which we stopped along the way included Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Victoria, B.C. One of the excursions that my family and I chose to take was a whale-watching cruise in Juneau. We were delighted when our ship’s captain excitedly told us that some “interesting wildlife” had been spotted, and we quickly sped toward an area where we saw several pods of killer whales. We felt even more privileged when we learned that it had been months since they had seen orca in the area and that it was quite a rare occurrence. But as much as I enjoyed the sites of Alaska and all of the activities at our destinations, what I enjoyed most was being with our distributors and getting to know some of the people who are responsible for the record growth that we are experiencing. While traveling at sea between our port destinations, we had many opportunities to gather together to discover more about our products, to learn about methods and strategies for building strong organizations, and for overcoming perceived barriers and obstacles to achieving our goals and living our dreams. I think that the most valuable experience for our distributors was to have the rare opportunity to listen to both Gary and Mary on stage together sharing their philosophies and stories related to their early days in the business and how they took very different approaches to each achieve phenomenal success. It was a testament to the fact that regardless of your background, through Young Living Essential Oils, everyone can experience wellness, purpose, and abundance! It’s hard for me to imagine how the Global Leadership Cruise could get much better, except by having more of you with us next time! The Essential Edge

Here’s some of what Marcella Vonn Harting, Gregg and Carol Johnson, and Vicki Opfer had to say. Advice for Recruiting and Marketing MVH: “First of all, the difference between us and you is that we’ve found a way to get
in front of a lot of people. “Now, if you’re a healer, you need to shift a couple of things. In all your healing, make these products available and endorse them. Second, you have to work deep to make this opportunity really successful.” GJ: “We (Young Living) have something that everybody needs and wants. Those people are out there. It’s our opportunity to show them what we have, and we do that by honoring the mission, vision, and integrity of what Young Living stands for.” VO: “I would challenge you to not just focus on enrolling but to focus on helping and teaching your organization to share with their friends. Every person in your downline wants to be able to share with friends, but they don’t know how. So our primary job as leaders is to teach people how to share with their friends effectively to get them signed up.”
Importance of the Fast Start Bonus and the Rising Star Bonus VO: “Prospects and distributors will find that the Fast Start Bonus and the Rising
Star Bonus will create a structure of success that will take them all the way to the top ranks in Young Living. “The Fast Start Bonus helps us create an income right away that will help us pay for our products and will even create a profit. “The Rising Star Bonus can easily be called a ‘Diamond maker.’ If someone will learn the skills of sharing and enrolling and help the people in their groups do the same, the sky is the limit. This bonus creates a structure of seven successful legs. In order to reach Royal Crown Diamond, six successful legs are required. So if we build that structure and continue to nurture those organizations, it’s just a matter of time before the legs are large enough to elevate us to higher and higher ranks. It’s a win-win for everyone. “I love this plan! Most people have no clue that if I enroll someone today, and three years from now, they enroll someone, I will get paid 10 percent on the new person’s orders for three months. It’s a huge deal!”
Closing the Deal MVH: “Closing is a skill that can be learned, and a lot of it is about rapport building. I like to let the prospects know that Young Living is such an elite company in the world that you have to be a member or know someone in the company to get our products. It’s important to get a yes or a no; don’t let the discussion end on maybe. So just ask them what it is they want and follow up! That’s the key.”
Leading By Example VO: “It’s your business. You are the model and you set the standard.” MVH: “Write a letter to everyone in your organization that introduces yourself. Tell them who you are, tell your story, and tell them you are there to support them however possible.” CJ: “You lead by example. You teach them to be independent from the very beginning, with the intent that you are creating a duplicable process. Don’t start bad habits from the beginning.”

Fall Harvest: Festival to Celebrate a Season NOBODY KNOWS HOW to celebrate the arrival of autumn quite like Young Living. On a rainsoaked, mid-September day, hundreds of community members and Young Living employees welcomed the colorful season with the 2013 Fall Harvest Festival at the Young Living Lavender Farm in Mona, Utah. Complete with carnival games, including the very popular dunking machine, wagon rides, a pumpkin patch, medieval games, western shown, and a jousting tournament, festival goers had a blast during the fun-filled day, in spite of the periodic downpours. The event was capped off by a toe-tapping performance from country band Little Texas and a heart-pounding performance by a booming fireworks show—a perfect conclusion to an unforgettable celebration.

Pan European Convention 2013 – An amazing experience shared in Vienna! Centre of attention were the highly popular additions to the European product range. Essential oils such as Lime and Hinoki, the newly formulated Believe blend and wonderful massage oils were very well received and many Distributors grabbed the opportunity to be first to take these offerings home by ordering them in the Convention’s product shop. With the Europe 30 Oil Collection, business builders now have the possibility to bring our most popular singles and blends into every home in the world since the collection has information in 24 languages!
The first ever Pan European Convention in Vienna was a resounding hit, filling the beautifully grand Hofburg with an abundance of excitement and joy, shared by over 1000 attendees! Oil enthusiasts from the host country Austria, Germany, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Spain, Poland, Norway, Iceland, Belgium and many other European countries, as well as warmly welcomed guests from the USA, enjoyed two days of education and entertainment in the awe inspiring ambience of the majestic venue. Highly respected guest speakers such as Young Living’s Director of Research and Discovery, Dr Cole Woolley PhD, French Farm Director Jean-Noël Landel, Royal Crown Diamond Marcella Vonn Harting, Crown Diamond Barbara Ochsenhofer, Diamonds Dietfried Wruss, Dr Gabriele Prakama Hauser MD and Markus Idl, and Platinum Aditya Nowotny absolutely captivated the audience. Attendees learned first hand why Young Living is the world leader in essential oils and how these wonderful gifts of nature can enhance everybody’s life. International health experts Kurt Schnaubelt PhD and Rudolf Pieknik offered insight into the research and use of essential oils. The varied programme was topped off by network marketing legend Tom “Big Al” Schreiter, whose business and personality training was one of the day’s particular high points.

When the Young Living Provence Collection was presented on stage, the applause seemed like it would never end! The exclusive range of essential and floral waters, wild lavender oil, dried lavender flowers and bouquets, as well as other new offerings, is sourced and produced on the Young Living farm in the beautiful Provence town of Simanela-Rotonde, the birthplace of Young Living. A new website, ylprovence.com, showcases this stunning area, where Gary learnt the art of distillation. The extensive product expo offered the possibility to try both long established favourites and new arrivals, as well as the opportunity to get a sneak peak at our seasonal offerings and was very well attended throughout the event. The Slique and NingXia Red Café were another highlight, offering refreshments and the perfect atmosphere to get in share passion and ideas with other distributors. The feedback received so far has been fantastic! Many of the European leaders said that the Pan European Convention 2013 was the best Young Living event that Europe has ever seen and we are excited about exceeding expectations again next year! Young Living Canada saw another record growth month in August! We are amazed at the recent growth and success of many members in the market and applaud them for their hard work and dedication. South East Asia held its 2013 Leadership Seminar in September at Dusit Thani Resort in Phuket, Thailand. There were close to 80 qualified leaders and guests who attended the event—double the number of last year’s participants— which signifies the fast growth in the region. Guest speakers included Jared
Turner, chief global sales officer, and Crown Diamond Michael McDanel. It was a weekend filled with high-spirited goal alignment, brainstorming, team building, and leadership training. Cheers to all of the region’s leaders from Singapore and Malaysia for all their passion and hard work! The next big event is this month’s South East Asia Regional Convention at the Marina Bay Sands Singapore, with speakers Dr. HK Lin, John Wong CW, Marcella Vonn Harting, Frances Fuller, and Dietfried Wruss.

Young Living’s New Scientific Advisory Council
YOUNG LIVING HAS announced the formation of a new Scientific Advisory Council comprised of prominent scientific professionals from around the globe with years of experience in integrative therapy. Founder and CEO, D. Gary Young, carefully selected the newly appointed council members due to their extensive experience within their fields and shared passion for natural products and wellness. The council will provide valuable insight into the development of essential oils and oil-infused products and will be called upon to share knowledge, leadership, and insights based on their expertise. The council members are Dr. Alishia M. Farm Report: Ecuador THE YOUNG LIVING farm in Ecuador is in constant production mode. During just one week in late August, more than 768 kilograms of ylang ylang, 66 kilograms of lemongrass, and 8 kilograms of mastrante were harvested.

In addition to the harvesting, more than 2 acres of lemongrass were planted, and more than 19,000 oregano plants were readied for the field. In all, 50,000 oregano plants are growing in the greenhouse until they are ready to be planted in the field.

As part of that integration, the team is also launching the new Product Discovery Program to accelerate the sharing of Young Living’s wonderful products into new target markets to achieve Gary Young’s vision of getting the products into every household around the world. Additionally, YL Australia is customizing programs for traditional retail markets, including therapists, healers, and various modality practitioners. This is the first time in Australia that all of these critical assets of customers, products, people, and business have been integrated into one exciting system that offers all of the new target markets the opportunity to generate significant cash flow from an economy that they can create and own.
The farm’s laboratory manager, Dr. Manuel Amat, noted that the ylang ylang is testing even better now because the field crew has been busy pruning more than 200 ylang ylang trees, which allows for better flower selection. As a fun sidenote, the farm is also currently home to 60 goats, whose milk is sold in the local community.
