NEW S OF T H E WORL D L EA DER IN ESS ENTIAL OI L S

A MESSAGE FROM MARY Hello, Everyone, It seems that the speed of 2019 is increasing, with so many new and exciting things happening! We cheered with the fourth graduating class of the Young Living Academy in Ecuador on February 16, which was a thrill for all who were there to celebrate with our 21 students. It’s a new horizon for these young people, and they are anxious to start making their way in the world. A few days later, we cut the ribbon for the opening of the new Experience Centre in Mal del Sol, the most high-end mall in Guayaquil. Millions of people visit this center every year and will be introduced to Young Living as they become curious about the beautiful lavender wall and the aroma that will attract them to come in and visit. On February 22 we flew to Bogota, Colombia, for the ribbon cutting of the opening of Young Living in their country. These members are on fire, and we are going to see phenomenal growth as they spread the mission of Young Living. With so many new people joining Young Living, we feel the need for them to have more education—not just about building a business but more about our products, how they work and how to use them. There is so much educational information available, far more than what we had even five years ago, especially in Virtual Office. There is also ongoing university research, with many published papers listed on PubMed and in many scientific journals. The internet is an amazing resource, but there is also conflicting information, so you have to figure out what to believe. Another resource is Life Science Publishing (LSP), which publishes a lot of wonderful books and materials, including D. Gary Young: The World Leader in Essential Oils, our book about Young Living’s farms and the history of Seed to Seal; Gary’s book on einkorn; member-authored books, which vary greatly in information; tapes of informative seminars; and Gary’s life’s research, which is invaluable to every member. We encourage you to hold more in-home meetings, cottage meetings where you can share your knowledge and personal experiences. Please help your new members get information that will give them broader knowledge and the ability to make the best choices. My best wishes,

YOUNG LIVING VITALITY OILS RECEIVE NON-GMO VERIFICATION! As leaders in the essential oil industry, we continue to raise the bar with high standards Young Living is constantly innovating to find the best ways to share nature’s benefits with every home on the planet. Because of these efforts, we’re proud to announce that our Vitality™ essential oil line is now Non-GMO Project verified! This prestigious certification speaks volumes about our Seed to Seal® commitment, unwavering effort to provide the highest-quality products, and our members’ passion for seeking the purest ingredients available anywhere. We’re thrilled to give our members the peace of mind they deserve. What is Non-GMO Project verification? Customers trust the distinguished Non-GMO Project Verified label when searching for natural, highquality products. This label indicates that the product underwent comprehensive third-party verification and that each ingredient was verified to have come from sources that were not genetically modified. When you see the Non-GMO Project Verified label on our Vitality product line, you can feel confident that each bottle contains ingredients created the way nature intended, allowing you to interact authentically with nature and reap its benefits.

CELEBRATING THE HOPE CENTER’S GRAND OPENING The new Hope Center will empower more than twice as many patients

“This beautiful dream is now a reality.” —Asher Singe, Sole Hope founder Young Living Foundation partner Sole Hope is working daily to empower the people of Uganda to become free of jiggers, which are tiny but destructive parasitic fleas common in the country. Jiggers live in sand or loose dirt and attach themselves to bare feet, toes, and ankles—causing pain, immobility, and sometimes disfigurement. With the brand-new D. Gary Young, Young Living Foundation Hope Center

How does Non-GMO Project verification align with Young Living’s 5×5 Pledge initiatives and Seed to Seal quality commitment? One of our 5×5 Pledge initiatives is to bring essential oils into 5 million more homes in the next five years, and our mission is to provide products that members want and need. As more and more research about GMOs becomes available, people are searching for high-quality, GMO-free items. Our Non-GMO Project verification offers transparency and showcases the stringent standards behind our Seed to Seal commitment, so you can use our Vitality essential oils with confidence. How does this impact you? With the prestigious Non-GMO Project Verified label on every bottle of our Vitality oils, not only can you use Young Living products with total confidence, but you can also share Young Living with more confidence and excitement than ever before! As Young Living continues to do business in a clean, environmentally friendly way, we are excited to have earned Non-GMO Project verification as part of our overall goal to honor the earth and promote whole-life wellness. This achievement is just one more way we’re raising the bar in the essential oil industry.

that opened in January, however, the organization is poised to remove more jiggers, provide shoes to more children, and educate more people about jiggers and how to keep them at bay than ever before. On January 11 the Foundation team stood with Sole Hope staff to celebrate the grand opening of this new building, which will more than double the capacity of the previous facility, the Sole Hope Outreach House. The original Outreach House had the capacity to treat up to 24 patients at a time. Almost 745 individuals were treated, and 80,000 jiggers were removed there in 2018. Now the new Hope Center will allow Sole Hope to more than double its efforts, offering space for 60 patients at a time and employing 36 locals. “This building is going to restore hope,” said Sole Hope Founder Asher Singe at the opening ceremony. “It’s going to allow people who never thought they could walk again to be able to run back to their villages, to go to school, to go to work, to take care of their families, and to be part of their communities like they are supposed to be.” The Hope Center’s construction was funded by the Young Living Foundation, and after bringing in a record amount of donations in 2018, the Foundation is also thrilled to announce its commitment to sponsor the first year of operations at the Hope Center. The Hope Center has been a dream in the making for Sole Hope Founder Asher Singe since 2014. That year Sole Hope didn’t have a place for two boys who had over 100 jiggers in their feet and hands, but the team created a room for the boys to sleep in anyway.

HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR ESSENTIAL OILS

ESSENTIALLY YOURS

The YL way to start your day

Here are some of your responses from last month’s question: “Which essential oils do you use to start the day?”

Discover new ways to use every drop

Our products are infused with care from the instant seed hits soil to the moment our oils arrive at your front door. It’s all part of our Seed to Seal® quality commitment—a promise that makes Young Living’s high-quality essential oils indispensable. Because we want you to take advantage of each drop of extraordinary oil, we’re sharing a few ideas for getting the most from your favorites. The tips below are just a teaser— head to our blog, The Lavender Life, for the full list! • Understand the potency of therapeuticgrade oils. It takes a lot of plant matter to distill enough oil to fill a single bottle. One 5-ml bottle of Rose oil requires about 22 pounds of rose petals. That’s some serious petal power! We like to follow the advice we give beginner essential oil users: Start low and slow. Those tiny drops are powerful! • Replace candles, air fresheners, and potpourri. Why fill your home with expensive, synthetic scents when a few drops of oil and your diffuser can make everything smell like tropical flowers or lemon bars? • Add essential oils to your favorite dishes. Our Vitality™ oils, which are labeled

The pain from the parasites that lodged within their soft tissue prevented them from walking to school and fetching water. It took multiple days to remove each jigger, and the Sole Hope staff cared for them until they were well enough to go home. Those two boys are now living in the United States and to this day are jigger-free! The Sole Hope team and the Foundation are thrilled for the new Hope Center and the opportunities it offers to create more success stories like these.

for food and dietary use, provide a simple way to get fresh, natural flavors infused into your favorite dishes. • Explore new oils without breaking the bank. Did you know that 20 of our favorite oils are under $20 each? From Cedarwood to Wintergreen and 18 in between, you won’t lack for new oils to try! See the full list at bit.ly/2GfQozd. • Use every last drop—and the empty bottle. Your love of essential oils doesn’t have to end when you’ve diffused the last drop. That empty amber bottle is full of DIY possibilities! Make bath salts, create prediluted oils for kids, make a travel kit, and so much more. “I always use Frankincense on the bottoms of my feet after showering, a few drops of Thieves® Vitality™ in my tea, and Lemon in my diffuser to brighten my morning!” —Susan W. “For me, it’s a drop of Orange and a swipe of Thieves® AromaBright® Toothpaste, followed by Thieves® Fresh Essence™ Mouthwash. Then I apply Orange Blossom Moisturizer and a drop or two of Essential Beauty™ Serum to my face. After some Stress Away™ rolled on my wrists as a perfume, my day is ready to begin.” —Suzanne N. “First thing in the morning, I add Lemon Vitality™ to my water. It’s a great way to get its cleansing properties, and it adds a burst of sunshine flavor to my day!* After I hydrate, I drink some NingXia Red® with a drop or two of Red Shot™.” —Laura E. “I use Peppermint Vitality™ on my toothbrush—such a fresh start to my day!” —Allycia T. “When I wake up, I check in with how I’m feeling and what I need. From this, I pick oils to diffuse that will help set the tone for my day. I love diffusing Stress Away™ to get me into the right mindset for a busy day. I diffuse Citrus Fresh™ for a bright, cheerful aroma and Valor® to inspire some ‘You go, girl!’ empowerment feelings.” —Julie E. *These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. Region Update

March is here and we’re thinking green— and we’re not just talking about our zerowaste initiative. One of the top reasons to love essential oils is that they capture the aromas and flavors of fresh botanicals, so you can enjoy them all year. This month we’re opening our bottles of Basil and Basil Vitality™ to enjoy the bright, green herbaceousness of these essential oils. When you think of basil, you probably imagine some of your favorite foods. That makes sense—Basil Vitality is an incredible addition in your kitchen. But Basil also has topical and aromatic uses! Here are some ways to indulge in the brightness of Basil essential oil: • Basil can help transport you to somewhere sunny, no matter what the weather is like outside. A few drops of Basil pairs beautifully with citrus oils in your diffuser! Try adding 4 drops of Bergamot, 3 drops of Lemon, and 2 drops of Basil to evoke images of a sundrenched kitchen. • Treat yourself to a soothing foot massage at the end of a long day by adding

2 drops of Basil and 2 drops of PanAway® to V-6™ Vegetable Oil Complex and working it into the soles of your feet. Basil is a hot oil, so make sure you dilute it before applying topically. Add some savory spice to life with Basil Vitality essential oil: • Use Basil Vitality’s bright flavor to add an exciting twist to your favorite pasta sauce. Start with 1 drop of Basil Vitality and add more if you think it needs it! • The fresh, green, herbal flavor of Basil Vitality is an incredible match for fresh vegetables. Add a drop to olive oil and drizzle over freshly sliced tomatoes for a quick snack or side dish. • Raw veggies don’t get to have all the fun, though. Boost the flavor of roasted veggies by tossing a drop each of Basil Vitality and Rosemary Vitality into the mix. Bring some fresh green aromas and flavors into your life this month and add these oils to your collection! Get Basil essential oil at bit.ly/1ZSHEi1 and Basil Vitality at bit.ly/2R74He1.

Young Living Singapore has an ultra-exciting year ahead! From member initiatives to international events, the market is aiming to change lives, inspire members, and spread the good of Young Living in 2019. In January Young Living Singapore kicked off an exclusive online leadership series hosted by Diamonds from around the world. These members connected across the globe through life stories, firsthand experiences, and practical techniques for getting the job done. By the end, members were inspired to tackle their challenges and take their YL businesses to soaring heights! This month Young Living Singapore is hosting the Young Living Transformation Symposium for the Southeast Asia markets. It’s a great platform for members to discuss the challenges and unique opportunities in their specific market and brainstorm ways to find growth in their teams. With additional training provided by a global leadership consulting group, members from Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines will be unstoppable! On top of its successes, Young Living Singapore is putting extra emphasis on doing good. The market is taking on the 5×5 Pledge by starting the Bring Your Own Bag campaign at the product store in the Experience Centre. The market is also partnering with Club Rainbow Singapore to create positive change in the lives of chronically ill children and their families. The fire and passion of Young Living Singapore is helping to shape the essential oils movement around the world!

Top with an additional drizzle of olive oil and salt if desired and serve.

In 2017 Young Living provided the Taiwan Cooperative Farm and Distillery with a grant for needed improvements. Planned projects included developing disused land, creating shading space for preprocessing of plants, and building a distillery closer to the farm in Taitung, Taiwan. In less than two years, the farm has done more than develop the land and design a distillery—and that hard work has paid off! Today it is a Seed to Seal® demonstration farm offering tours to local academies and colleges. Travel with us to the Taiwan Cooperative Farm and Distillery as we take a closer look at all it has accomplished. Cultivated the land The additional acreage is in an organic agriculture zone, but the land has been in disuse for over 10 years. It took weeks to ready it for development and even longer to cultivate. Farmers prepared the fields by sowing and fertilizing, while seedlings were nurtured in the greenhouse. Spring rains provided the perfect opportunity to move the seedlings, which included several plants from Gary’s collection of Taiwan’s exotic essential oil botanicals, including xiang mao, lemon verbena, and basil. Created shading To increase the yield of oil during distillation, the farm designed a structure for shading harvested plants. Farmers evenly distribute leaves and grass in the shaded area and leave them undisturbed as they dry. Once plant materials are ready for distillation, they’re ground into small pieces and sent to the new distillery. Constructed a distillery The Taiwan Cooperative Farm and Distillery needed easier access to a distillery and chose to repurpose an old home in the area. Known as adaptive reuse, the project was right in line with YL’s 5×5 Pledge. When the new building was ready, a team fabricated and installed the distiller with its water filter, boiler, and condenser. The result? A partner farm that embodies Young Living’s Seed to Seal quality commitment. Learn more about the Taiwan Cooperative Farm and Distillery at SeedtoSeal.com!
