NEW S OF T H E WORL D L EA DER IN ESS ENTIAL OI L S
A MESSAGE FROM MARY Hello, Everyone, It seems that we have all been in the fast lane for the past couple of months. Moving in to our new Global Headquarters was organized and smooth for the most part. Everyone is still in awe of the building. The ribbon cutting was emotional for so many of us, but the sun was shining and the day was beautiful. No words can describe the uniqueness and beauty of our new headquarters. You just have to come and see it for yourself. This year’s Global Leadership Cruise through the Alaska Inside Passage was truly awesome. Imagine a cruise ship with 5,000 excited members of the Young Living family. Members came from all over the world, and it was rewarding to witness the camaraderie, be a part of the storytelling, and experience the joy of sharing. With our annual International Grand Convention on the horizon, I feel a frenzy of anticipation of what’s coming. This will truly be a historic event from every angle of participation: sitting and watching, being behind the stage helping it happen, or being on the stage making it happen. There will be new products, fabulous announcements, and lots of surprises—don’t miss it. If you ever struggle knowing which oil to reach for, here are some words that help me remember what I need when: Marjoram for Muscles, Cypress for Circulation massage, Lemongrass for Ligaments, Lemon for Lifting emotions, Frankincense for Feelings of greater introspection and wellbeing, Helichrysum for Helping whatever, and Peppermint for Pushing for better absorption. These are just a few examples. With love and gratitude,
YOUNG LIVING OPENS DOORS TO NEW GLOBAL HEADQUARTERS GHQ’s future is bright—bright green, that is! On Wednesday, May 29, the Young Living executive team snipped their way through a bright purple ribbon, officially opening the doors to Young Living’s new Global Headquarters (GHQ) in Lehi, Utah. Young Living Co-Founder and CEO Mary Young spoke of the company’s history and Founder D. Gary Young’s vision to bring the power of Young Living’s pure essential oils to every home in the world: “This is a historic day for us. As we commemorate 25 years as the leader of the essential oil industry, I’m delighted to officially welcome the world to our new Global Headquarters—a building that represents our rich legacy. It’s truly an exciting time to be a part of Young Living.” Creating an eco-friendly building was essential to the design of the new GHQ. The awe-inspiring GHQ reflects YL’s dedication to its stewardship of the earth and 5×5 Pledge—a commitment that shines inside and outside the building. “We’re thrilled to finally move into our stunning new Global Headquarters,” said Jared Turner, Young Living president and chief operating officer. “We worked closely with the country’s best architects and space planners to ensure that the new building supports our efforts toward achieving zero waste in five years and serves as a welcoming space for our worldwide members and talented employees.” There are many ways we’ve gone green at the GHQ. These are just some of the highlights: • LEED and Green Globe certifications in process • Low VOC-emitting, recyclable materials used in furniture and finishes • State-of-the-art water filtration system, which eliminates the need for bottled water
HOPE SHINES BRIGHT INThe Shine CAMBODIA School expansion doubles
opportunities for students in recovery In October 2018 the Shine School in Cambodia, operated by our partner Hope for Justice, began breaking down the walls that would soon ready the school for an exciting expansion. In January Hope for Justice applied the finishing touches on the school— and the impact achieved since is inspirational. The Shine School is one of Hope for Justice’s aftercare programs that provides catch-up education and
The exterior features two-tone stones and two-tone glass—a bold statement representative of the natural world. Outside you’ll also find solar panels on the roof and covered parking structure, plus water-efficient xeriscaping. The most endearing element is the nod to our founder’s humble roots: a replica of D. Gary Young’s childhood cabin. Walk through the doors of the new GHQ and you’re immersed in openness, light, and beauty. In front of you is a three-story waterfall, and on your left is a twostory screen spotlighting Royal Crown Diamonds. The main floor also hosts a product store, an always-on-view research lab, and the einkorn demonstration kitchen and Vitality Cafe. What else is on the main floor? Ample opportunities to learn more about Young Living! Our GHQ has a miniature theater where visitors can select Young Living videos to watch and an auditorium that seats 164 with a stage—a superb setting for training and education. “We wanted a building that radiates the spirit of Young Living and how much we value our commitment to preserving and utilizing nature,” said Ron Harris, senior director of Real Estate and Facilities. “We also wanted it to be comfortable and efficient for our amazing employees. Thanks to the incredible efforts of everyone involved in the project, we managed to do it all.” The building also has a five-story open stairway, 99 conference rooms and gathering spaces, and 1,000 workstations. These design elements foster productivity, creativity, and collaboration, allowing employees to better support our members. Top it off with two large, organic growing walls and an interior landscaped garden, and you have one extraordinary building worthy of the world leader in essential oils.
vocational training to girls who have been rescued from human trafficking. After finishing an extensive eight-week recovery program at a Lighthouse Center, they can continue on to the Shine School in Phnom Penh. Since the expansion, the school has welcomed a record number of students, tripling capacity and adding new programs to the curriculum, including art and music therapy, to accommodate all learning styles and phases of the restoration process. The Shine School fosters an environment of collaboration and camaraderie among peers. The new library has become a place that supports learning and exploration, featuring hundreds of books written in both Khmer and English and spaces where the PAG E 1
