STAINER - Orville Eric Stainer was born on December 3, 1945 in Birtle, MB, the sixth of eight children born to Frank and Eunice (nee Sherritt) Stainer. He was raised on the family farm and attended school in the Lansburne District and in Foxwarren, MB. His love of driving started at an early age when he took his first job hauling gravel for Em Williams of Foxwarren. He then spent many years hauling mobile homes throughout Western Canada for Don Davis. In 1968, Orville met the woman who would become his wife, Debbie Flynn and they were united in marriage on August 8, 1970. Orville and Debbie moved to the family farm where they farmed for a number of years. They were blessed with two children, Kirk on July 17, 1973 and Carrie on November 1, 1976. In 1987, the family relocated to Saltcoats, SK where Orville rekindled his driving career. He took a job with Yellowhead Transport in Yorkton, SK hauling cattle across Canada. From there he went to Atomic, TCT and Penner as an owner operator with five trucks in his fleet. In 2009, Orville and Debbie sold their trucking company and he went to work on the oil rigs, hauling water. His current job was hauling cattle across Canada and the USA for C. Jones Trucking of Yorkton. Orville was an avid baseball player and his dedication to the sport resulted in his induction into the Manitoba Baseball Hall of Fame in June, 2009. He loved hockey, vacations with his family, camping and fishing - especially ice fishing at the Lake of the Prairies. Orville always worked hard whether it was cutting firewood, carpentry work or fixing things around the yard - everything he did was full steam ahead! Together, Orville and Debbie loved visiting with friends and family in their home and at their place at the lake. There were stories to tell, heated discussions to be had and laughs to be shared. Orville’s greatest joy was his grandchildren. Whether it was something they should have been taught or not, he was always ready to give a lesson on driving the boat, fishing, snowmobiling, shooting a gun, sweet talking a girl, cattle prodding, respect for others and of course, the proper use of swear words! Orville was beyond proud of his children, grandchildren and the life that he shared with his wife. Orville was predeceased by his parents; his brother, Allan Stainer; his sister, Gladys Fiola. He leaves to mourn his passing, his loving wife of 45 years, Debbie; his son, Kirk (Teri) Stainer and their children, Cole and Sarah; his daughter, Carrie (Mark) Hutchings and their children, Austin and Tristin; his siblings, Delmar (Ruthie) Stainer, Lois (Doug) Clarke, Leona Kowaluk, Gordon (Marie) Stainer and Myrtle (Wes) Lane; brothers-in-law, Don (Nancy) Flynn and Doug (Joanne) Flynn as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Orville was a hell of a guy, and we’re gonna miss him. A Memorial Service to celebrate Orville’s life was held on Friday, October 30, 2015 from the Saltcoats Community Hall with Reverend Walter Farquharson as the Presider. The organist, Ruth Datema, led the congregation and members of the Saltcoats United Church Choir (and Friends) in the singing of the hymns, “Give to Us Laughter” and “Would You Bless Our Homes and Families”. The Choir Selection was “Rock of Ages”. Words of tribute and eulogy were shared by Orville’s son, Kirk Stainer. The recessional music was “Amazing Grace” sung by Linda Datema. A private family Cremation Committal followed in the Saltcoats Town Cemetery with John Tomaluk serving as the urn bearer. Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.

October 16, 2015 at the Canora Gateway Lodge. She was 95 years of age. Rachel was born on December 19, 1919 to Gottfried and Anna Elizabeth Ruf, baptized in Stornoway, SK. At age 9, her mother died leaving a family of 9 children. Rachel was nurtured by her sister Molly and siblings and moved to Rhein to a new stepmother, Katharine Martin, and blended family 6 months later. She married Reinhold Hilderman, her soul mate in 1938, celebrating 57 years of marriage and together they raised a loving family of 4 children - Beverley and Loring and 15 years later - Bentley and Kerry. What a blessing she was to us! Rachel loved being a homemaker, gardener, seamstress and community worker in her church and the Red Cross. A cup of coffee was always ready and a meal could be assembled in minutes to all who visited. She was a woman of great faith, a generous friend, loving grandmother and great-grandmother and historian with her sharp memory, for the family and community. Known to many as Aunt Rachel she enjoyed her years living at the Rhein Manor, the daily scrabble games with her dearest friend Emily, followed by nightly card games, visits from family and friends and nieces Audrey and Barbie who were constants in her life. Many handmade cards were sent from Rachel’s table and her knitting needles never stopped. Our thanks to the staff of Gateway Lodge in Canora for their gentle care these past 4 months and to all who visited so faithfully. Rachel leaves her family to celebrate her goodness: Bev [Ted Krisch] daughter Terri [Trevor Budworth] Elliot and Spencer; son Lauris [Janice] Tessa Loring [Shirley] daughter Erika [Ken Thomson] Parker; son Cordell [Jackie] Kate, Lucas and Cole. Bentley [Doreen] daughter Dawn [Danny Krupski] Wyatt; son Corey [Robin] Kerry [Lynne] daughters Kaney, Lexi and Nikki. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Rhein with Pastor Karen Stepko officiating. The interment will take place in Christ Lutheran Parish Cemetery. Heartfelt memorials may be made to Christ Lutheran Church in Rhein or the Canadian Red Cross, her favourite charities. No flowers please. Condolences can be sent to the family at www.baileysfuneral.com.
