BISSCHOP - Ann Bisschop (nee) Kolodziejski, third child of Walter and Amelia (nee Stegienta) Kolodziejski, was born on May 30, 1930 on Sec. 1, Tp.32 Rge.10, W, 2ND Saskatchewan, better known as The Flats. On August 14, 2017 at the Yorkton & District Nursing Home, she peacefully entered into the Kingdom of Heaven greeted by many family members. She was 87 years young. Ann grew up on the farm with her two brothers, Henry and John and her sister, Mary. She received her education at Dunrobin School. She worked hard throughout her life on the farm and eventually met the love of her life Norbert Bisschop. They entered into the union of marriage on May 21, 1949 and were blessed with one son, Joe, in 1950. Their first home was in Tuffnell, SK in the living quarters of the hardware store they ran together. Later, Ann ran the store alone while Norbert worked as a mechanic in Foam Lake. She was a very strong and confident woman. They then moved to Wadena and lived there for a short time where Norbert continued to work as a mechanic and Ann was a full time mom. In 1955 they decided a move to Yorkton would give them better opportunities. Norbert gained employment as a mechanic at Korb Motors and Ann started her career at the Bus Depot restaurant called “Uneedalunch”. She worked there, eventually becoming the manager, for 17 years. In 1972, Ann started on a new path in life becoming a grandmother to Teri followed by Jeff and Joelle - the pride and joy of her life. She loved attending many of the activities they were involved in. Taking them camping gave Norbert and Ann much pleasure. Joe and Cheryl probably enjoyed that even more - LOL. Ann was overjoyed with the birth of each great-grandchild as well. Again, attending their many various events from Ukrainian dancing to hockey to archery, etc. Ann took her cooking skills to the Radar Base at Orcadia after leaving the Bus Depot to continue doing a job she truly enjoyed. Shortly thereafter a restaurant and garage came up for sale and they both knew this business would be a great opportunity for them. So on April 1, 1976 they became the proud owners of Skyline Texaco. Their son Joe also worked there as a mechanic. Soon the many customers became one big family, keeping the place busy because as we all know, Ann was an amazing cook. She whipped up big pots of soups, made pies and delicious specials each and every day, doing what she loved to do. On October 31, 1990 they both retired. The big Skyline family missed them very much and had to find other places to have their meals and get their vehicles repaired. Everyone said it just wasn’t the same - and it certainly wasn’t for Ann, Norbert or Joe as well. She even turned down an offer she received from a valued customer who wanted to purchase a restaurant for her to run so they would be able to continue enjoying her wonderful cooking. What a compliment that was! She loved to play cards, curl, sew, knit, crochet, snowmobile and go camping. Ann looked forward to the holidays and always had fun at Halloween. She also loved cooking and making cabbage rolls and perogies. She always made butter tarts for Jeff for his ice fishing trips. She had a passion for dancing which she did a few times each week right up until her surgery in January. In February of 1994 her husband, Norbert, passed away, leaving a void that was filled by her granddaughter, Teri, moving in with her for a while. That was very helpful. Teri loved it as much as “GG”. Ann became very involved at St. Gerard’s Parish cooking for numerous functions. She enjoyed helping with the perogy and cabbage roll bees. She also was an active CWL member and gave selflessly of herself to help others in need. On March 20, 2015 Ann’s beloved granddaughter was taken from her - this devastated her and the entire family and turned their worlds upside down. Her heart was broken in two. But her strong faith in God, deep devotion and family support helped her journey through the pain. We all know that God and our angels, Norbert and Joelle took her by the hand and welcomed her to her eternal home in Heaven. No doubt in our minds this is true, as our entire family has had many signs from them that offer comfort and hope through coins, feathers, butterflies, dragonflies and our beloved robins. Ann was predeceased by her husband, Norbert; her parents, Walter and Amelia Kolodziejski; brother-in-law, Tom Halyk; sister-in-law, Bernice Kolodziejski and granddaughter, Joelle Bisschop Lucas. She leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory her son, Joe and his wife, Cheryl (nee Chillog); granddaughter, Teri (Craig) Herman; grandson, Jeff (Jennifer) Bisschop and Matt Lucas; great-grandchildren, Brady Herman, Jayden and Jaxon Bisschop and Ty and Jersey Lucas; sister, Mary Halyk; brother, Henry and his wife, Lucy and brother, John as well as numerous nieces and nephews and other relatives and good friends. She will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her. “We not only loved her, we liked her too”. “Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass…It’s about learning to dance in the rain!” The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks for all the kindness, prayers and support given them by family and friends during this very difficult time. The prayer vigil was held Thursday, August 17, 2017 from St. Gerard’s Roman Catholic Church in Yorkton, SK with Mary Bybliw and Jerome Niezgoda serving as lay presiders. The reader was grandson, Jeff Bisschop and granddaughter, Teri Herman shared a tribute to Grama. The accompanist, Chris Fisher and the church choir, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, “Be Not Afraid”, “Psalm 103”, “Peace is Flowing Like a River” and “Amazing Grace”. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Friday, August 18, 2017 also from St. Gerard’s Parish in Yorkton with Father Louis Kim Nguyen officiating. The readers were Craig Herman and Tom Halyk, the cross bearer was great-grandson, Jayden Bisschop, the gift bearers were Vickie and Eugene Duchnitski and the general intercessions were led by Marcella Davis. The accompanist, Chris Fisher and the church choir, led the congregation in the singing of the hymns, “This Day God Gives Me”, “Psalm 62”, “On Eagle’s Wings”, “You Are Near”, “Song of the Angels” and “How Great Thou Art”. The Cremation Committal followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with grandson, Jeff Bisschop, serving as the urn bearer. “When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure”. Mass offerings or donations in Ann’s memory may be made to the New Horizon Senior Centre in Yorkton, a charity of your choice or honouring her by doing “a random act of kindness”. Friends so wishing may forward their condolences to the family by visiting www.christiesfuneralhome.com. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Christie’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yorkton, Saskatchewan.
