Born in Regina, Joanne and her family lived in Churchbridge and Yorkton until moving to Calgary in 2011. Her husband, Garry, children Tricia, Amy and Damon and her brother John and his wife, Beverly, invite all who shared her friendship and love to gather on Thursday, May 25, 2-4 P.M. at the Old Land Titles Building, 3rd Ave. and Smith Street East, Yorkton, SK.

Death Notices

FERGUSON - Nancy Munro Ferguson was born January 12, 1925 in Yorkton; the youngest of Hugh and Jean (nee Thomson) MacKenzie’s eight children. She attended Simpson School and the Yorkton Collegiate Institute before graduating from The Saskatoon City Hospital School of Nursing as a Registered Nurse in 1946. Nancy returned to Yorkton and worked as a public school nurse until her marriage, on June 29, 1955 to John (Jack) Ferguson at St. Andrew’s United Church. After Jack earned his Chartered Accounting designation in 1956, the couple had two sons: Ian in 1957 and Douglas in 1959. Nancy was a member of the Deer Park Ladies Golf Club and Yorkton Ladies Curling Club for many years. She was also involved with The Yorkton Music Festival and a member of the Kinette and K-ette clubs. Nancy loved to sing and sang alto with the St. Andrew’s United Church Choir for 70 years. She was also a soloist at weddings and later, funerals. Nancy passed peacefully the morning of February 16 at the Malinowski House after a brief illness. She was 92. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff for their care. Nancy was predeceased by: her brothers (George, Robert, Stewart and Samuel) and sisters (Jean, Marion and Elsie). She is survived by: her two sons Ian and Douglas, five nieces (Daralyn McGill, Karen Brice, Susan Brooker, Heather Kruger, Wendy Maze and their families) and one nephew George Johnston and his family. Memorials in Nancy’s memory may be made to the Parkinson’s Society Canada and the Activities Program of the Sunrise Health District. The funeral service will be held on Monday, May 29, 2017 at 1:00 pm from St. Andrew’s United Church in Yorkton. Interment to follow in the Yorkton City Cemetery.

WAGNER - Edwin Edgar Wagner, of Yorkton, and formerly of MacNutt, SK, passed away on January 21, 2017. A graveside service will be held at Christ Lutheran Cemetery, 1 mile south, and 1/2 mile east of MacNutt. The service, led by the Rev. Arron Gust, will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 3.

SEREDA - Mr. Emil Sereda of Yorkton, beloved husband of Mabel, entered eternal rest on Saturday, May 6, 2017 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre with his wife at his side. He was 91 years of age. Emil was born on May 11, 1925 in Jedburgh, SK. He was born into a family of twelve children to Bill and Pearl (nee Kondro) Sereda. Emil was united in marriage to Mabel Smart on February 23, 1963. He farmed for a short period of time in the Jedburgh area before moving to Yorkton. He worked at the Co-op Creamery, Yorkton Hotel, Royal Canadian Legion and the last position he held at the Yorkton Court House as a maintenance person. He took pride in his work and received an award for excellence. The couple purchased a home on Argyle Street where he remained until his passing. Emil was musically inclined playing with many bands in the community and to the very end of his life he loved Ukrainian music. Emil will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Predeceased by his parents and his brothers and sisters; Emil leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 54 years Mabel; numerous nieces and nephews and extended family and friends. A Memorial Service was held on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Doreen Day, Certified Celebrant officiating. Included in the service was a taped hymn, “Shall We Gather At The River� and special selections, “Where Were You When The World Stopped Turning�, “One� and “He Stopped Loving Her Today�. Kevin Borden (nephew) read the eulogy and served as the urn bearer. The interment will take place at a later date. Memorials in memory of Emil may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
