Recreational Club Aurora Swim Fitness winter Centre Children’s Programs THEATRE FOR KIDS

(Ages 5 to 7 years) Children will have fun and gain confidence through the unique, fun and creative methods developed by the Canadian Children’s Theatre Co., in partnership with the Town of Aurora. Laughter and applause are guaranteed when the children perform one of the many, zany Robert Munsch stories such as: Mortimer, Stephanie’s Ponytail or Thomas’ Snowsuit for parents and friends on the last class. Costumes and all materials are included. Participants can register over multiple sessions without repeating the same story.

JUNIOR CHEF

(Ages 5 to 12 years) This hands-on introductory cooking class will provide children with an opportunity to experience the joys of cooking while having fun and even being a little messy. Each session provides new recipes and families will be invited to attend a kids created restaurant at the final class. An instructor will be present at each lesson to provide recipes, details and supplies. Please specify any food allergies or restrictions on your registration form or by phoning the reception desk at 905-726-4770, so that your family file can be updated.

DANCE - HIP HOP SENSATIONS

(Ages 8 to 12 years) Dance to your favourite hip hop music and learn all of the current dance steps and street moves. This introductory-level Hip Hop is offered in partnership with the Canadian Children’s Theatre Co. It provides a structured method of learning various Hip Hop dance moves in a fun-filled and vibrant class environment. The outcome is an energetic class that not only teaches you Hip Hop movements and technique, but also instills rhythm, coordination and precision. The dancers’ efforts will be rewarded with the rich sound of applause during their performance for family and friends on the final day of classes.

AURORA IMPROV CLUB

(Ages 5 to 12 years) This hands-on introductory baking class will provide children with an opportunity to experience the joys of baking while having fun and even being a little messy. Each session provides new recipes and families will be invited to attend a kids created tasting party at the final class. An instructor will be present at each lesson to provide recipes, details and supplies. (Ages 8 to 12 years) Laugh, chuckle, giggle and holler! These are all sounds you’ll hear coming from the Aurora Improv Club is offered in partnership with the Canadian Children’s Theatre Co. Participants will play fun improv games to help access creativity, boost self-confidence and develop spontaneity and playfulness. They will explore how to create a wide variety of characters, big and small and learn the beginning fundamentals of writing your own sketches. The Aurora Improv Club will have the opportunity to display their talents on the final class with a culminating and interactive showcase!

(Ages 6 to 11 years) Extra energy, want to stay fit, love to run, jump and play? Then join us for an hour of games, exercises, sport activities and more. Participants will be introduced to a variety of equipment and challenges that will get their bodies moving and keep them healthy and strong.

(Ages 8 to 12 years) This vocal and musical theatre program for children is offered in partnership with the Canadian Children’s Theatre Co. Participants will learn catchy songs and captivating choreography to all the hottest broadway and movie musicals, from the classics to contemporary favourites! Led by enthusiastic teaching professionals, students have the opportunity to develop their vocal and performance skills while showcasing their dramatic creativity. Audiences will surely be singing and dancing in their seats when they are entertained by the performers on the final day.

FRIDAY NIGHT SPORTS

(Ages 8 to 12 years) With the emphasis on fun and begin active, your child will work on some skill building, teamwork and game play. A variety of multi-sport activities such as soccer, basketball, volleyball and running games will be introduced each week. Join us at any time during the 2 hours then stay and play for as long as you would like that night. Please wear proper running shoes, comfortable clothes and bring a water bottle.

(Ages 8 to 12 years) Jump, spin and dance to the music! This dynamic and exciting dance program is offered in partnership with the Canadian Children’s Theatre Co. Children will combine the basic aspects of ballet, jazz and modern/lyrical dance. Participants will be given the opportunity to have fun and gain confidence, while developing grace and creativity. The dancers’ efforts will be rewarded with the rich sound of applause during their final performance for family and friends on the final day of classes.
