RICK HARE AWARD
Each year the York Ice Hockey Club asks coaches to select one player from their team that they feel is most deserving of the Rick Hare Unsung Hero Award. This award is given to the most improved player, one who works hard, comes to practice ready to work and encourages others.

RODGER FURSE AWARD
Each year the York Ice Hockey Club presents the Rodger Furse award to a member of the club. This award is presented in honor of its founder, Rodger Furse. A Toronto-born, Canadian ex-pat who moved to Vermont in the late 1920s, Rodger eventually made his way to York in the 1970s via his profession in steel company management. Active in many local organizations, Furse founded the York Boys Hockey Club and was active in the rehabilitation of the rink. Rodger’s impact on hockey in York continued through his role as the club’s first president–and on the ice, Rodger impacted players directly as a coach.
This annual award is presented in recognition of outstanding leadership, dedication and service to the York Ice Hockey Club to honor its founder, Rodger Furse.
