• Spring sure hasn’t been what we’re used to with the pandemic keeping most of us home and unable to go out and do our favorite things together. But you can still count on York County Libraries to provide entertaining and enriching activities to keep families in our community active all summer long! Since we’re not able to host in-person events, we’ve adapted a variety of events for live streaming or on-demand viewing , plus some fun downloadable activities. We hope to see you in person soon, but in the meantime, visit us online and have a safe and fun summer!
What is SummerQuest? It’s Library Events, Reading, GO York! Hikes, Prizes and FUN! The SummerQuest program helps kids of all ages have an awesome, active, non-boring summer. York County Libraries is hosting lots of online events with this year’s theme, Imagine Your Story. To be eligible for prizes, kids and teens should use their free library cards to register in Beanstack beginning May 17. Our online kickoff is May 30 with a live streamed concert from Steven Courtney! Steven will be performing again for our Midsummer Event in July...more details coming soon! crush THE 800-MINUTE CHALLENGE & win prizes! Each minute spent reading or being read to counts as one minute. Each library event, activity and GO York! hike counts as 20 minutes. Use the updated Beanstack mobile app to record everything you do. If you finish the 800-Minute Challenge, keep tracking, because the top minutes earner in York County wins our grand prize! LIBRARY EVENTS & ACTIVITIES...ONLINE VERSION You can do as many library events or activities as you want! They’re coded by suggested age group, and there are many for the whole family to enjoy together. Go to SummerQuest.YorkLibraries.org to see events for all of our 13 libraries. READING: FUN FOR EVERYONE Reading is a great way for kids to imagine their stories while keeping up their skills during the summer. Even newborn babies benefit from being read to! GO YORK! HIKES (brought to you by Wellspan HEALTH) Starting July 1, the GO York! team will hide 30 story-themed carvings in parks all over York County. Participants will get an instruction booklet to find the posts and a sheet to collect rubbings of the carvings. Join the GO York! Facebook group for updates. REGISTERED PARTICIPANTS will earn prizes!
