2020 4-H AUCTION I know we have been hedging around September 18th as a possible date for our 4-H Benefit Auction, but that date seems to be out at this point. The committee has identified an online service and are currently waiting for Penn State to give us the thumbs up. As soon as we have the go ahead, we will set a date and auction off the club baskets and any other items we may have collected at the 4-H Center as donations. Stay tuned! YORK COUNTY 4-H TODAY
Each day this year seems to bring new challenges and new ways of getting things done. I want to bring all our 4-H members, leaders, and parents up to date so none of you feel like a mushroom. # 1- 4-H is still open and offering programs, the format may just be a bit different. # 2- Projects are being judged by Extension staff after coordination with club leaders # 3- Livestock and Dairy members all need to hand in a project record book at the October meeting # 4- If your club would like to meet face to face, please contact the educator that works with your club. We can apply for a face to face meeting. We have been very successful at getting approvals at this point. The application must be made at least 20 days before the meeting and must show an educational component that cannot happen in a virtual setting. Penn State protocols must be followed at the meetings, including a 2-week self-check, masks, and social distancing. Most clubs will meet in the barn since we are not allowed to meet inside with more than 10 people at this point. # 5- There will be a new enrollment system in November called Z-suites. This platform, according to information educators have received, will allow volunteers to interact and view training videos without the hassles some of you experience now. Some project books will able available to be downloaded on Z-suites as well. More to come on that. # 6- Because of social distancing and the limit to room capacity, 4-H clubs will not be able to have face to face achievement banquets. # 7- There are some clubs that still have not paid their 2020 enrollment fees. I understand you have not been able to meet in many cases, but, since most of you collected the money from your members and the program fund still needs to pay the state, I’m asking those clubs who still owe to pay as soon as possible. # 8- The state is currently offering the Engineering Design Challenge; it looks a bit different this year, but can be done by individuals or families. It is cool and I encourage you to take a look. Lisa is offering several horse related topics via Zoom, Pam and Linda are both in the process of planning several SPIN (short term special interest) clubs so members can complete projects this year. # 9- Repeat of #1 4-H is still open. If you need to contact any of us, please feel free to email or call us.
