A Year of Impact W
Shalom Alumni, Families and Friends,
hat is the ideal way to serve the Jewish People here in Eretz Yisrael?
Many assert כ ָּלםֻּ כנֶגֶ דְּ תוֹ ָר הּ תלְ מ ּו ד,ַ the study of Torah is the greatest merit and should, therefore, ideally be our only focus. Others argue as Moshe did to the tribes of Gad and Reuven ַה ַא ֵחיכֶ ם ָיבֹא ּו לַ ִּמלְ ָח ָמה וְ ַא ֶּתם ת ׁ ְשב ּו פֹה,ֵּ how can we sit idly while our brothers are on the battlefield ensuring our safety? We, too, must defend our country and serve in the army!

Interview: Falling in Love with Torah A Life of Chessed Bringing Peace by Saving Lives
Three years ago, the yeshiva launched Lev LaChayal, our Yeshiva Lone Soldier Program which has helped dozens of talmidim prepare for the IDF and is a warm home for our chayalim throughout their army service. The official mission statement of the vision of Yeshivot Hesder could have been written for Lev HaTorah 15 years ago and it is as true and appropriate today as on the day it was written:
“To raise talmidim to Torah, Yirat Shamayim, Ahavat Hashem, the Nation and The Land. To contribute to Am Yisrael out of a sense of educational mission and mutual responsibility and to be attentive to the needs of the generation.” The Lev HaTorah family continues to grow and the yeshiva to expand. This year, 5778, we welcome, bli ayin hara, a record breaking number of talmidim with 80 in the shana aleph program (12 alumni siblings!) and over 20 shana bet including a dozen in Lev LaChayal. With the new ‘hesder’ status, the yeshiva is now preparing to enter a new phase of our development, one that we have been working towards both in ideology and in practice, since our inception. As we celebrate exciting new milestones at the yeshiva, on behalf of the Rebbeim and staff of the yeshiva, I would like to wish you all a happy, healthy and inspiring new year! Shana Tova and Gemar Chatima Tova! B’vracha, Rav Boaz Mori Rosh Yeshivat Lev HaTorah
