Quotes from John Baptiste De La Salle
De La Salle University-Dasmariñas is a Filipino Catholic University established and managed by the De La Salle Brothers and their lay partners in the historic province of Cavite in response to the needs of the Church and the Nation for human and Christian education, particularly the youth at risk.
Guided by the Lasallian values of Faith, Zeal and Communion, the University participates meaningfully in the process of social transformation by forming Godcentered, people-oriented, and patriotic persons who serve as responsible and professionally competent stewards of God's creation.
To realize this vision, the University shall strive to become a leading institution nationally and globally in the integral formation of the youth by offering relevant, responsive, and communityoriented academic programs, research and extension services, and promoting a keen sense of history, arts and culture. Following the footsteps of Saint John Baptist de La Salle, the University shall continue transforming itself into a caring community guided by Gospel values, with a fervent spirit of service, love for learning and excellence through a holistic formation of its members.
To be Lasallian means to be part of a strong spiritual community. We follow the morals of St John Baptist De La Salle and learn to touch the hearts of others and care for the least, the last, and the lost. Being a Lasallian is something that stays with you throughout your whole life, and I am so proud to be part of that community.
-Georgia candy"Together, we are one big family and within this special spiritual community, we discover our sense of belonging."
To me it is representing a wider community found all around the world and being apart of a community that helps each other. Whether it is in the classroom or greater community, even sporting events we are always representing our community and St John Baptist. By attending this school, we are expected to fulfil St John’s mission to help the least, last and lost and to touch hearts.
It is an honour to attend a school made by the man who started catholic education. Every morning when we put our uniform on, we represent someone on the other side of the world attending a Lasallian school
"We represent a huge community which is making a difference every day."
flows from a relationship of communion with the Triune God who wills to save all people by drawing them into a lifegiving communion with him and with one another in the Lasallian tradition, the spirit of faith is a spirit that allows one to:
discover God’s active presence in his Word judge and evaluate things in the light of the gospel, search for God’s will in order to carry out his saving plan, unite one’s actions to the ongoing saving action of God trust in God’s loving presence and providence when acting or discerning God’s will
Done in this light, our coming together for the human formation of his face is not an empty gesture, it is meaningful and purposeful. It is done in solidarity with one another and in solidarity with those in need of Lasallian education. The Lasallian Spirit in full display
"“Let us remember that we are in the most holy presence of God.”
Martin Luther King
"Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase."
– Martin Luther King, Jr.
Muhammad Ali
"It’s lack of Faith that makes people afraid of meeting challenges, and I believed in myself."
– Muhammad Ali
is the active expression of faith in gospel witness and service. It is oriented towards the integral salvation of persons, particularly the poor and the excluded. Zeal is the enthusiastic and total gift of self for the sake of the mission expressed in such qualities as gratuity and generosity, creativity and fortitude, compassion and commitment. It involves a preferential concern for the poor and the vulnerable. The desire to be of greater service to others conditions the quest for excellence and continuous self-improvement.
The Lasallian mission is “human and Christian education, especially for the most in need.” St. La Salle fulfilled this by educating the poor children of his time. We continue his legacy by providing quality education to our students and by exerting efforts to make our brand/kind of education available to those who cannot afford quality education. This is our service, our way of putting our faith in action.
"I will continue oh my god to do all my actions for the love of you"
"As we serve others we are working on ourselves; every act, every word, every gesture of genuine compassion naturally nourishes our own hearts as well. It is not a question of who is healed first. When we attend to ourselves with compassion and mercy, more healing is made available for others. And when we serve others with an open and generous heart, great healing comes to us."
recalls the dynamic of association by which the first Brothers bonded together for the sake of the particular mission entrusted to them by God. Communion has four dimensions.
As a relationship with God, it is the source of all mission and ministry; as a way of accomplishing mission, it suggests the solidarity and collaboration that comes from sharing in one vision, one spirit and one mission; as a way of relating to others, it suggests openness to all persons and the desire to be brother or sister to all especially those in need; as a goal of mission, it suggests the unity that comes through reconciliation between God, human beings and creation
“Together and by association,” with those who dared to share in his dream of “human and Christian education,” St. La Salle answered the call of God. This is what we celebrate as we form the face of De La Salle. Remember that St. La Salle became the concrete and palpable presence of Jesus in his milieu (17th Century France) just as Jesus was the concrete “personal” presence of God in the world.
“Live, Jesus, in our hearts, forever!”
“Mission arises from the heart of God himself, and is communicated from his heart to ours. Mission is the global outreach of the global people of a global God ”
The Lasallian Identity Framework incorporates a vision of the Christian and Lasallian character of a ministry (a school or pastoral centre or project) within an assessment process, primarily based on reflection and self-assessment, designed to identify strengths and target areas for growth. The focus of the LIF process is to build on the strengths within the organisation. This affirms and encourages efforts to live out the Lasallian character in all aspects of the ministry’s life as it attempts to deliver an educational and formative experience of excellence to all young people entrusted to its care.

The Lasallian Identity Framework has been created to fulfil several important purposes:
To indicate the essential characteristics of a Lasallian school.
To indicate the expectations of those who work in a Lasallian school.
To serve as a source of encouragement and positive reinforcement for the good practices already in place within the school.
To provide an internal review and selfassessment of the school’s ethos, as well as its external, objective assessment.
To identify critical needs and issues and assist the school in creating and implementing a multi-year growth plan that addresses critical needs and issues.
To assess how the school contributes to the educational service of the poor, a key element in Lasallian education.
