ABOUT THE EVENT
Our first Symposium in 2022 focused on “Advancing Organizational Equity: Understanding and Moving Through Institutional Resistance” in response to the experiences we were facing to advance equity following the social unrest and global pandemic in 2020. In 2023, we expanded on this with the theme “Advancing Equity: Strategic Integration Through Leadership.” Recognizing the need for ongoing engagement, we transitioned in 2024 to quarterly Community Conversations to provide year-round learning and application opportunities. Each year, we’ve engaged approximately 300 community members, with 21.8 million social media impressions from over 72,000 followers, amplifying the reach and impact of this work.
This year, our 2025 Symposium returns with the theme “Rising Together: Stories of Economic Mobility and Thriving Communities,” aligning with the RVA Rising initiative to close the economic gaps in our community through collective impact. Guided by a planning committee of 30 community leaders, the Symposium continues to serve as a catalyst for progress by engaging expertise across industries, amplifying the need for diversity, equity and inclusion efforts, and expanding partnership so we all can thrive.
