WHAT INFORMATION DO YOU REQUIRE AT THE TIME OF BOOKING?

All passenger first and last names, and all dates of birth, are required at the time of booking. Certain train providers will require passport information.

CAN I CUSTOMIZE MY TRIP?

Absolutely. We can add hotel nights to give you extra time to explore your destination, or add in additional destinations to help you discover new ones! We can also add transfers for ultimate ease and convenience and have an extensive range of sightseeing options so you can make the most of your trip. Just speak with our Rail Experts and we’ll start creating the perfect rail vacation for you.

CAN YOU RECOMMEND THE MOST SCENIC ROUTE TO GET TO MY DESTINATION?

We’re always advocates of taking the scenic route! With so much to see from the train windows on all our rail vacations, you’re in for a treat. If there’s a different route you could take for some extra special scenery, we’ll be excited to let you know!

CAN I TAKE A RAIL VACATION THAT YOU OFFER IN REVERSE?

Yes! We can offer a reverse option on any of our itineraries. If you are already planned to be in one destination and would like to visit cities on one of our packages in a different order or start/finish in a different location, please call us and speak with a Rail Expert.

CAN I UPGRADE TO FIRST-CLASS RAIL ON SOME OR EVEN ALL OF MY TRAIN JOURNEYS?

You certainly can. We know that many of our customers like to upgrade some or all of their train journeys to first-class. Upgrading will give you a larger seat, more legroom and even a meal and drinks on certain routes. To find out more, please speak with one of our Rail Experts who will tell you the advantages of first class on your specific route.

WHERE ARE YOUR HOTELS LOCATED?

Our hotels are centrally located within each city we offer. Most are within a short distance of local sights and/or your railway stations.

HOW MUCH LUGGAGE CAN I BRING?

In general, each passenger can take two items of luggage plus one personal item. There are no weight restrictions - just remember you’ll need to carry everything!

CAN I ADD ON ADDITIONAL SIGHTSEEING OR ADDITIONAL HOTEL NIGHTS?

Yes, you can add additional sightseeing activities and/or hotel nights to most existing rail vacation packages we offer. When you speak with a Rail Expert, request an explanation of the upgrade options to your vacation package as you wish. Additional charges may apply.

AM I ABLE TO TRAVEL ON MY CHOICE OF DATES?

There are no set departure dates with our vacations, with the exception of private train journeys such as the Venice Simplon-Orient-Express. Most trains will run every day, which means our vacations do too!

CAN I CHOOSE MY TRAIN TIMES?

Our packages don’t have set departure times, and if there is a train running when there are multiple trains a day, your Rail Expert will be able to talk you through the different departures. If there’s a particularly convenient time or a departure that will ensure you catch the best scenery, we’ll be sure to recommend it.

HOW LONG BEFORE THE TRAIN DEPARTS SHOULD I BE AT THE STATION?

There is no official check-in required for train journeys in North America. Of course, we always recommend arriving at the station in plenty of time.

DAY 1: YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS IN WASHINGTON, D.C.

Arrive in Washington DC and check in to your hotel for a three-night stay. Spend the afternoon strolling the National Mall, taking in the U.S. Capitol, Washington Monument, and Lincoln Memorial.

DAY 2: WASHINGTON, D.C.

Spend the day exploring the nation’s capitol. In the evening, visit the city’s most iconic landmarks and monuments, including the Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, and the U.S. Capitol beautifully illuminated against the nightime sky.

DAY 3: WASHINGTON, D.C.

Take guided tour to Mount Vernon and Alexandria. Explore George Washington’s historic riverside estate, then stroll the cobblestone streets of Old Town Alexandria, known for its 18th-century architecture and waterfront charm.

DAY 4: CHARLOTTESVILLE

Travel by Amtrak to Charlottesville, a charming university town nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon exploring its vibrant downtown, the campus of the University of Virginia, or head over to visit Monticello, the home of Pres. Thomas Jefferson.

DAY 6: CHARLESTON

Arrive in Charleston and check in for a two-night stay. This afternoon, join one of North America’s most sought-after culinary experiences – a guided food tour of Charleston’s French Quarter. Stroll the city’s historic streets with your expert guide, sampling Lowcountry favorites such as Carolinastyle BBQ, shrimp and grits, and handmade biscuits, while uncovering the stories of pirates,

DAY 1: YOUR JOURNEY BEGINS IN DENVER

Welcome to Denver! Enjoy the views of the fabulous Rocky Mountains as you make your way to your hotel. After you settle in, take some time to explore the downtown area of the Mile-High City, where you’ll find lots of museums, art galleries, craft beer bars, and so much more! The Denver Art Museum, located right in downtown Denver, has one of the largest Native American art collections in the world.

DAY 2: DENVER

Experience the majestic Rockies on a full-day tour of Rocky Mountain National Park, known for its wildlife and breathtaking views. Don’t forget your camera! On the return trip, enjoy photo stops and a break for refreshments.

DAY 3: DENVER TO MOAB

Travel to the Amtrak station and board the California Zephyr to Grand Junction for one of the most beautiful train trips in all of North America. As you climb through the heart of the Rockies and further west through the snow-capped Sierra Nevadas, you may find it hard to disagree. After your arrival, your transfer will take you to your hotel in Moab.

DAY 4: ARCHES AND CANYONLANDS NATIONAL PARKS

Today you’ll have a full-day tour of two spectacular national parks: Arches and Canyonlands. Arches National Park is a geological treasure featuring 2,000 natural sandstone arches, including the world famous Delicate Arch. The park’s rich colors, textures, and landforms highlight the extraordinary balanced rocks, fins, and pinnacles. Canyonlands National Park offers a stunning landscape filled with countless canyons, mesas, and buttes, carved by the mighty Green and Colorado rivers. Experience the park from the astounding Island in the Sky, a scenic drive that follows the rim of the mesa and offers amazing views.

DAY 5: MOAB TO SALT LAKE CITY

Travel to the Amtrak station in Grand Junction and board the train to Salt Lake City. Take in the unparalleled views of Utah’s gorgeous Wasatch Mountains as you head west on the California Zephyr.

DAY 6: SALT LAKE CITY TO WEST YELLOWSTONE

Today your included roundtrip shuttle service will to take you to West Yellowstone. Widely held to be the first national park in the world, Yellowstone National Park is home to the most impressive geothermal areas in all of North America.

DAY 7: WEST YELLOWSTONE

Enjoy a full-day tour of the lower loop of West Yellowstone, open seasonally. Highlights of this fascinating tour include Old Faithful Geyser, the Old Faithful Inn, Isa Lake on the Continental Divide, and many more amazing sites. You’ll have some leisure time to enjoy lunch on your own at the Old Faithful Village and do some exploring of the area if you desire.

DAY 8: WEST YELLOWSTONE TO SALT LAKE CITY

Welcome to Boston! Use your hop-on, hop-off pass to visit top attractions like the New England Aquarium, the Museum of Science, or the Skywalk Observatory. Explore the city’s revolutionary past along the Freedom Trail, then head to the North End—Boston’s famous Italian American neighborhood—for incredible dining.

DAY 2: BOSTON

Enjoy a hop-on, hop-off sightseeing tour of this historic city. See ancient burial grounds, national historic landmarks like the Old North Church, and the site of the Boston Massacre. This morning, wrap up your time in “Beantown” as you prepare to head to Manhattan! Travel on your own and board Amtrak to New York City.

Experience firsthand what the excitement of the Big Apple is all about with a one-day sightseeing tour on a hop-on, hop-off bus! Your onboard guide will point out the city’s major landmarks and attractions and give you some history and background on this sprawling metropolis. Use your CityPASS to visit some must-see attractions like the Empire State Building, the American Museum of Natural History, the Museum of Modern Art and more!

DAY 5: NEW YORK CITY

Today continue your exploration of the sights and sounds of New York City. Take some time to do a little shopping on Fifth Avenue. This evening, head to the top of the world for your included dinner in New York’s only revolving rooftop restaurant—The View.

DAY 6: NEW YORK CITY TO PHILADELPHIA

After waking and enjoying your last moments in New York on this trip, travel on your own to Penn Station and board Amtrak to Philadelphia. Relax on board as you travel south to the “City of Brotherly Love”!

Philadelphia is a city rich in American history and culture. As the first capital of the United States and the birthplace of the American Constitution, Philadelphia offers so much to see and explore. Visit the city’s best attractions including the Franklin Institute, One Liberty Observation Deck, Philadelphia Museum of Art and more with the Philadelphia Pass! DAY 2: CHICAGO

Continue exploring on your multi-day sightseeing tour. Be sure to stop by the iconic attractions Chicago has to offer, like the Skydeck Chicago, Navy Pier, Millennium Park, 360 Chicago, and much more. Dinner this evening at a popular restaurant in Chicago is included.

DAY 3: OVERNIGHT ONBOARD AMTRAK

Travel to the station and board Amtrak’s City of New Orleans® for a relaxing overnight journey to Memphis. This scenic route takes you through the heart of America’s musical heritage—from Chicago’s famed symphony and electric blues scene to Memphis’ Beale Street and the home of Elvis, the King of Rock ’n’ Roll.

DAY 4: MEMPHIS

You’ll arrive in Memphis early in the morning. Travel on your own to your hotel, which is located in the heart of downtown. Today you’ll have some free time to explore the sights and sounds of this musical city. If you’re looking for places to go, check out the music scene on Beale Street or head to the Peabody Hotel to see the famous ducks.

DAY 5: MEMPHIS

Today, enjoy a guided tour of Memphis, including the iconic Graceland. Discover highlights like downtown, the Mighty Mississippi, Beale Street, and Sun Studio. At Graceland, explore the home Elvis cherished, then visit the Meditation Garden to see the final resting place of Elvis and his parents.

DAY 6: MEMPHIS TO NEW ORLEANS

Travel on your own to the station and board Amtrak to New Orleans. Take in the Southern scenery as you travel the history-laden musical roads of Mississippi to New Orleans - the birthplace of jazz. Upon your arrival, you will travel to your hotel, where you can settle in for the night or start exploring this lovely city.

DAY 7: NEW ORLEANS

Start the day with a jazz brunch at the famous Court of Two Sisters restaurant. After a leisurely morning, you’ll set off for your included New Orleans city tour. Absorb the sights and sounds of the worldfamous French Quarter and historic Jackson Square. Explore the historic cemeteries, often referred to as “Cities of the Dead.” Marvel at the fascinating stories of voodoo and piracy on Bayou St. John, the waterway used by Jean Lafitte and his band of pirates. DAY 8: NEW ORLEANS

Enjoy a Battlefield Cruise and take in the picturesque sights of New Orleans and the French Quarter from a unique vantage point: the outside deck of an old-fashioned paddlewheel boat! DAY 14: SAN FRANCISCO

Today you can explore San Francisco with a hop-on, hop-off sightseeing pass. Your tour will bring you to important San Francisco landmarks like the Golden Gate Bridge, Golden Gate Park, and Union Square. Enjoy your time traveling around the city!

DAY 15: SAN FRANCISCO

Welcome to New York City! Enjoy a multi-day hop-on, hop-off sightseeing tour of one of the world’s favorite cities. DAY 2: NEW YORK

Today continue to explore the city on your sightseeing tour. Stop off on 5th Avenue for premiere shopping, take in the enormous and iconic Empire State Building, or journey to the Statue of Liberty and explore Ellis Island. There are so many amazing things to do and see in the “Big Apple!”.

DAY 3: OVERNIGHT ONBOARD AMTRAK

Travel on your own to Penn Station and board Amtrak to Chicago. Kick back and relax on the Lake Shore Limited as you head to the Midwest. Enjoy the scenery as you travel along the south shore of Lake Michigan, the Mohawk River, and the Erie Canal, following a famous Native American Highway.

DAY 4: CHICAGO

Breeze into the Windy City and explore Chicago with a hop-on/hop-off tour to all the top landmarks. Visit Navy Pier’s many attractions, wander through the architectural beauty of Millennium Park, and enjoy world-class shopping along the Magnificent Mile. After a day of discovery, savor your included dinner at a popular local restaurant.

DAY 5: CHICAGO

DAY 6: OVERNIGHT ONBOARD AMTRAK

Travel on your own to Chicago’s Union Station and board Amtrak to Denver. Enjoy America’s majestic landscapes as you travel on the California Zephyr through the plains to “Mile High City.” Experienced travelers say the California Zephyr is one of the most beautiful train trips in all of North America. And, once you absorb the breathtaking scenery along its route, including the snow-capped Sierra Nevadas, we know you’ll agree.

DAY 7: DENVER

Today you’ll arrive in Denver in the morning and travel on your own to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore the city at your leisure. DAY 8: DENVER

Today you will venture out on a full-day sightseeing tour of Rocky Mountain National Park! Take in the views of the majestic Rocky Mountain range, capture pictures of wildlife, and drive over Berthoud Pass where you will summit the Continental Divide that sits at over 11,000 feet above sea level. DAY 1: LOS ANGELES

Your Grand Canyon rail adventure begins in Los Angeles, where you will travel on your own to the Amtrak station and board the train to Williams. Relax and enjoy the scenic ride as your train makes its way to one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the Grand Canyon. This majestic train route winds through canyon passages that are only a few feet wider than the train itself, so you will get a chance to see spectacular landscapes and pristine vistas not visible from any interstate or highway.

DAY 2: WILLIAMS TO THE GRAND CANYON

Welcome to Williams! This morning, your breakfast at the Fred Harvey Restaurant is included before you board the Grand Canyon Railway to the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. A sightseeing tour of the rim is included on today’s portion of the journey. You’ll get a chance to see amazing views and scenic overlooks as you venture where no automobiles can go.

DAY 3: GRAND CANYON

Today is yours to spend basking in the great outdoors of the Grand Canyon. Stroll or hike along the Canyon’s many trails. Breathe in the fresh air. Enjoy the nature and wildlife around you. Make sure you have your camera on hand as you take in this powerful and inspiring landscape.

DAY 4: OVERNIGHT ONBOARD AMTRAK

After a good night’s sleep, you will board the Grand Canyon Railway back to Williams. This evening, you will celebrate the last night of your Grand Canyon journey with an included dinner at the Fred Harvey Restaurant. DAY 6: NEW ORLEANS

This morning, enjoy a guided sightseeing tour of New Orleans, featuring iconic stops like historic Jackson Square, the lively French Quarter, and the hauntingly beautiful “Cities of the Dead” cemeteries. Later, choose between a jazz-filled brunch or dinner at an authentic Creole restaurant in the French Quarter.

DAY 7-8: OVERNIGHT ONBOARD AMTRAK
