New York always remains on the top rank of the most expensive rental market in the US. The average monthly rent for a one-bedroom is roughly $3,260. The size of the average one-bedroom, however, is one of the smallest in the US. Most studio apartments are between 400 and 600 square feet. For one-bedroom apartments, they are between 600 to 800 square feet. People living in New York City struggle with the high price and
tight space. The majority of the customers visiting the store live in NYC or the city in NJ. This 500-square feet apartment unit is thoughtfully designed to inspire them. I imagined a young couple living together in this apartment. This small-sized apartment is quite challenging to organize thier items. Throughout this project, I suggest the ideas to break those conflicts room by room inches by inches. Small space living, not a problem.

Space difficulities
Lack of storage space in general. Absence of top cabinets are common. It is hard to organize clothing for two people in one reach-in closet.
Living room /dining
Instead of having a guest room, sofabed is an efficient solution to save space for those who like to invite guests often. Install wall shelvings to utilize vertical spaces. A stack of clear boxes is an affordable way to store items. When the items are visible, they are easy to access and organize.
Bedroom
A narrow reach-in closet is challenging to organize clothing for couples. A customized open closet system, hanging organizer, and stack of boxes will efficiently save space and help to organize. Underbed storage can create more space for clothing and seasonal bedding.
Kitchens without top shelvings are difficult to store all different types of cookware. Kitchen rails and wall shelvings are easy to install and affordable ways of create spaces.
Bathroom
A mirror cabinet is a multi-functional piece of furniture to get extra storage space in the bathroom. Neatly store bath items under the sink with boxes and organizers.
Foldable chairs and tables can be hung on the wall when they are not in use. Round tables provide a better use of spaces.

The Harmonie Club, founded in 1852, has occupied its Stanford White Designed Landmark building since 1905. Located just steps from Central Park, our Club makes for a beautiful backdrop to a quintessential New York City Wedding celebration. It is the club is the second oldest social club in NY. It has been host to numerous political and cultural luminaries in recent years.
In this project, our firm proposed the extension of the building, adding eight more stories for overnight guest rooms. Proposed bronze-finised canopy will give modern look to the building. The existing interior structure remains the same, but the use of space will be changed a bit. According to the programs, the interior furniture layout will be reorganized.

Studio Wise Co., Inc. is a med-sized architecture and interior design firm in South Korea. They work with private clients on residential, commercial, and retail projects. During my three-month summer internship, I particularly worked with idea concept drawing and digital model making for the first month, site visit/analysis and client meeting assistance for the next month, and I focused on detailed model making for the last month.

The site is located in Berlin, Germany. The class designed the use of the area just by researching the context of the zone and seeing the look from Google Maps. During the spring break, we took a trip to Berlin to see the site and tour the city. What I felt from the city is that Berlin is a very young and energetic city. People living their lives like to gather around, relax in the park, and are not afraid to do what they want to do.
The Spree River shipping container park is designed to provide a space for entertainment. This container building attracts visitors’ attention from the main street, and it leads to the park next to it. By using a series of shipping container buildings manufactured on-site, a number of pop-up events will be held at the park. The visitors come to the area to relax with a view of the beautiful Spree River.
This site sits next to the Spree River in Berlin. Surround is all in the manufacturing zone, but it is the only mixed-use zone in this area. Back then, this site was a public park where people came and drove into the river.
Currently, only a few buildings are built in the area. Current tenants rent this space for their art studios, office space, fabrication studios, and music recording studios. There is still great potential to revitalize this park again.
Shipping containers are easily found and re-used in the factories around them. They will be pre-built in the on-site manufacturing studio and carried to the locations according to the pop-up events happening.
There are a number of options for events using shipping container buildings.
The placement of shipping containers determines the circulation of the visitors. There are three main circulations: coming into the park, going to the deck to see the view, and walking around the building.
RISD high school is designed to built near Rhode Island School Design in a purpose of creating communication and sharing between high school’s and college’s artists/designers. RISD high school will follow essential of RISD curiculum beside there are not major specific classes. Researching new education 2020 plan as reference for the school, the building is designed to have new curriculum such as computer
coding, Virtual Reality, and computer program-based courses. Spaces for presenting artworks are crucially important for art school because students are motivated and learned from each other by showing their works. There are two galleries and one open critique/pin-up space. RISD high school is designed to be adapted flexibly day by day with all fresh and creavtive artworks from art students.
Education trend is changing fast today as technology developed. Pencils and notebooks are replaced by computers, the library is rather filled up with tablets than books, many schools required students to learn computer coding, different courses flexibly collaborate with other courses, there is more and more group study than an individual project, and VR is applied to education lately. As education changes, the layout of the structure needs to be changed as well.
It is two story building. 1st floor is the communal spaces such as the student gallery and cafeteria. All liberal arts classes will be held on the mezzanine floor and art studio classes will be on the 2nd floor.
The cafeteria on the first floor is open to view from the second floor. Students freely eat and talk, sharing their thoughts. Red and yellow, the main colors for the schools, are applied to chairs, columns, and ceiling lights.
The student gallery is located next to the cafeteria. As students come into the building, featured student works can be seen through the glass doors.
As new technology applies to the design field, computer programs are now required for art students. They will learn coding, photo editing, digital drawings, 3D printing, video editing, etc.
In art school, having a crique with the professor and the students is an everyday event. Students learn from and get inspired by their colleagues’ work, and the professor gives critical comments for improvement.
Layer of cork board will be add to the critique wall to make students easier to pin their artworks.
