DESIGN STATEMENT Main issue: The rate of employability unemployment has increased nowadays, and the continuous upgrading of skills, especially working experience and organisation skills MDEC has been the lead agency in Malaysia's digital economy since its inception 20 years ago. Now, It holds an incentive programme, MYWiT, under the Malaysian Government’s Kumpulan Wang COVID-19, which aims to spur job creation and reduce unemployment among Malaysians.

DE-THINK is a place aimed at startup entrepreneurs or potential unemployed that wish to become advanced or more mature in business entreprenument with new technology provided. Also, The place where entrepreneurs will grow their business in the future through learning, connection and skills. It is an opportunity for the user to show their ability to think like a creator.

The design concept for the chosen floor I applied was a contemporary design with simple shapes, open layouts, and the juxtaposition of industrial and natural elements. The major spaces are the design thinking workshop, idea refinement workshop, business matching area, and connective area.

The design thinking workshop is the first step where the users create the proposal prototype with the facilities provided, such as a 3D printer and laser cutting. Next is the idea refinement workshop, an area for the users to generate and discuss ideas to create a successful business plan. The third major space is a business matching area, where users interact and collaborate with potential clients and suppliers through some ice breaker activity. The last step, a connective place, aim for the users to meet and interact with different level of entrepreneurs to share their experience and tips on business.

REFLECTION

REFLECTION

Valuable experience is the suitable word to express the input on the MLE approach. It is a golden opportunity to collaborate with other schools as not many universities will conduct this kind of collaboration.

The challenges I encountered throughout the collaboration with other Schools were communication skills and the ability to understand.

We received different information for the final project outcome as there was a misunderstanding on the project brief. The BAT Team didn't fulfil the project requirements for the first work they provided, but luckily, we managed to work out and did the job.

I'm not the group leader, so it was not too stressful for me compared to the others. The group leader has so many things to handle for the entire journey; they have to be responsible for meeting and discussing with BAT and QBS Team for further collaboration to complete the work perfectly. Even though there was a misunderstanding earlier, BAT and BIA teams immediately got suggestions from each lecturer to solve the problems and avoid them becoming worse. I think the result will be better if the collaboration meeting is held face to face as we can learn more knowledge from other schools.

I would give 6 out of 10 to express your satisfaction with collaborating with other Schools. Even this was the first time I collaborated with other schools. I really enjoyed and learned new things in this collaboration journey.

I will recommend collaborating with other schools to other students because we also have to work in real-life industry after graduating; why not we, as a student, experience it earlier.

Lastly, a special thanks to Ms Norji for guiding and supporting the whole semester's journey. I would recommend to the junior and others friend to join the MLE programme as it can enhance the teamwork skills and self-improvement from friends.
