Almoayyed & Sons’ incredible journey, and we are more than proud to celebrate this major milestone – an inspiring, over-seven-decade-long success story of a humble one-man trading outlet flourishing into a full-scale conglomeration. This outstanding achievement is nothing but a testimony to our team’s unparalleled skills and dedication, because the human factor is the core of every prosperous business. Therefore, I take this opportunity to thank the YKA workforce for their indispensible input, and wish us all continuous motivation and prosperity in the years ahead. On this occasion, I present to you this edition of Y.K. Almoayyed Magazine, which will update you on all our latest ventures and achievements across various YKA divisions. Car Review Crisp Look, Fresh Feel T he Infiniti QX80 full-size luxury SUV offers a refreshed exterior design, more crafted i nterior, and additional standard features and t echnology. It comes in two grade levels – Q X80 Excellence Grade and QX80 Luxury Grade, both with the option of seven or eight seats.
On the Outside T he revised front fascia features new u pper grille shape and added lower grille, n ew LED high/low beam headlights, L ED turn signals, LED fog lights, and a n ew bumper with flush-mounted sonar s ensors. In the rear, a larger standard bumper protector helps reduce potential d amage. Three new exterior colours have been added among the total seven c hoices: Hermosa Blue, and Majestic W hite. A new wheel design is also introduced – 14-spoke 22-inch forged aluminum-alloy wheels.
On the Inside The interior refinements r eflect input from current o wners, who requested greater visual differentiation b etween colour/wood trim offerings and more choices i n the optional technology g roupings. Two interior c olour atmospheres are a vailable – Wheat or Graphite leather-appointed s eating – along with two interior finisher colours. The p revious Tuscan Burl trim h as been replaced with a M ocha Burl with a richer
and more reddish wood grain on the Excellence Grade, while a new Stratford Burl is available on the Luxury Grade.
Performance A s in previous years, all 2015 Infiniti QX80s i nclude a high-stiffness frame structure that e nhances ride comfort while reducing noise, v ibration, and harshness. The proven 5.6-liter V8 engine combines the responsive acceleration o f Infiniti’s VVEL (Variable Valve Event & Lift) technology with the efficiency of Direct Injection Gasoline (DIG) to produce 400 horsepower and 560Nm of torque. A smooth 7-speed automatic transmission is standard on all models.
The High Tech Several new technologies have been added for 2015, including the High Beam Assist headlight function – standard on all models – which reads o ncoming or upcoming traffic with a forward camera and automatically dips the high beams to the low beam setting; and the Predictive Forward C ollision Warning (PFCW) system – standard o n the Luxury Grade – which warns the driver of risks that lie beyond the driver›s forward field o f vision. Also added are standard 3-blink onetouch turn signals.
Playing It Safe An extensive suite of advance safety systems i s standard with the QX80 Luxury Grade, i ncluding Front Emergency Braking and Front C ollision Warning System, alongside available features, such as Blind Spot Warning, Blind Spot Intervention, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), and Lane Departure Prevention (LDP).

Building Better Lives One-on-one with Salwa Almoayyed, Head of Yousif and Aysha Almoayyed Charity
What is the fundamental mission of your foundation? How has it developed over time? Our goal has always been to work towards a better society – more specifically, to help people build their lives and not just to offer temporary solutions. It’s of utmost importance that our contributions serve the community in the long term. In the beginning, we would often donate money simply based on requests. But, unfortunately, we had a few cases where individuals tried to take advantage of our organisation. Nowadays, we try to avoid that by offering tangible support, rather than cash; we offer goody baskets, grocery coupons, etc. so that those truly in need can benefit. What criteria do you use to determine to whether or not embark on a specific project? Anyone who needs help can approach us – be it individuals or companies. I hold regular committee meetings with my sisters, Amal and Mona, and my niece Mashael, during which we carefully review the applications and decide on the particular projects and
In what areas has the foundation added the most value in Bahrain society? In the broadest terms, we aim to improve the living conditions for the society as a whole – be it the underprivileged, the physically or mentally challenged, or the gifted youth for that matter. However, a lot of our initiatives focus on the children and the youth – as they are our future, and we want to give them a chance for a better life.
What projects are in the pipeline for the Yousif and Aysha Almoayyed Charity? We are in the process of completing a donation of two buses especially adapted for handicapped passengers – with easy wheelchair access and other facilities – which will allow them to travel more independently. We have also allocated around BD 50,000 for scholarships for gifted students, to fund their education in the best institutions. We will launch this initiative as soon as we receive official permission from the Ministry of Education.
Can you give us some examples of success stories of your foundation? One of our most memorable projects was helping Ali Mohammed Musa, a disabled, very bright young man, to publish

We organised a special launch ceremony and ensured the right media exposure. All the proceeds will be utilised for opening Ali’s new store, which has always been his dream. We also regularly run our own housing project, where we renovate and expand family houses to accommodate large families living in them – we usually manage to complete around 14 units a year. Do you expand your work beyond Bahrain? We frequently support civilians in the wartorn territories, such as Syria or Palestine. We make sure to send aid for the refugees every year.
At Yousif and Aysha Almoayyed Charity, we make sure that any new project is agreed on unanimously, and only then we proceed with it. If you just start giving out the money, some of the beneficiaries might misuse it. I’ve had such experiences in the past, and they caused me a lot of unnecessary frustration. In the long term, what do you plan to achieve as the charity foundation? We have set aside around BD 1 million for a major future project, but we’re still in a process of allocating the right cause for it. Among others, we are considering funding two new operation rooms for kidney transplants, or perhaps opening a new centre for the same cause

When and why was the Yousif and Aysha Almoayyed Charity established? The foundation was formally established in 2013. My belated parents had started their annual charity work as soon as my father set off his small shop in the souk, in 1940. He used to give a fraction of his small profit to my mother to distribute to the poor as Zakat. At the beginning, the amount was very small, not more than 100 rupees, which is equivalent to ten dinars. We continued the tradition during my father’s life and built the Almoayyed Drug and Alcoholic Rehabilitation Unit at Salmaniya Medical Complex, in memory of my brother Mohammed who died in 1972. And, after my father’s death in 1996, we funded the new kidney dialysis centre, also at Salmaniya hospital. We decided to name the foundation after my parents to honour their memory. To this day, we try our best to follow their noble path by helping the society, while applying present-day means. Our country gave us so much, and we strongly feel that we should give back and make a change for the better.

What feedback do you usually get from your customers? Our feedback survey has shown that Quick Lane has scored tremendously in customer satisfaction. Most of our customers are loyal and prefer to deal only with us. We have the highest number of customer service retention.
How do you ensure your service technicians are at the top of their game? We believe in «fix it right the first time» approach, so we only employ those who are fully qualified. All our technicians are all certified by FMD – these are factory-trained
Do you cater only to Y.K. Almoayyed models? At both Arad and Salmabad branches of Quick Lane Tire & Auto Center we service all makes and models of cars
How much emphasis do you place on the after sales service in your operations? We employ a dedicated call centre team to keep in touch with the customers and remind them about their next service. They also keep an eye on customer satisfaction ratings, which helps us fulfil and exceed customer expectations.

How does Quick Lane stand out on the market? As most of our customers are on tight schedules, we have made our service as convenient as possible to address their needs. Quick Lane operates longer hours, including Fridays, in keeping with the market conditions; plus, our customers have an option to wait while we complete the service in a timely manner. What’s On
People-Centric It is commonly known as employee-centric, but we prefer calling it “people-centric”. We choose to make a difference. Seven Habits Workshop for Ashrafs Staff Ashrafs conducted a training programme for 14 of its employees on the Seven Habits of Highly Effective People through Logic Training Centre. The four-day workshop took place in March, 2015. The employees thanked the company for providing them with this training opportunity, which has cleared the career map for a lot of the participants. The ceremony was conducted at the multipurpose hall at Ashrafs shopping center Hoora.
Fire Marshal Training for Staff Thirteen employees of Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons completed a programme on the fundamentals of fire marshal training, conducted at the National Occupational Safety and Health Centre (OSHO). The employees expressed their gratitude to the company for providing them with training programmes, which work for the benefit of the company and its employees. Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons Training Manager Faisal Al Asfoor attended the closing ceremony, commenting, “Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons focuses on providing the employees with specialised training programmes. We need to be ready for any situation with the right skills to be able to contain the situation. We all know that these cases never send a prior invitation.” The course concluded with the distribution of the certificates.

Almoayyed & Sons participated in University of Bahrain’s Career Fair in order to provide career guidance and employment opportunities to students, graduates, and job seekers. The event participants had an opportunity to meet the company representatives face-to-face and submit job applications for various segments. The Y.K. Almoayyed stand, featured throughout the three-day event, attracted hundreds of potential employees and trainees. Y.K. The event was held at the Bahrain Society of Engineers last March, with the aim of empowering youth to embark on an experiencing leadership journey. The ceremony took place last March at Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons head office, in the presence of YKA Managing Director Mona Almoayyed along with a school delegation and students. The students were rewarded financially and received certificates of appreciation.
Bahrain Deaf Society Receives Sophisticated Headphones
Donation to Bahraini Disabled Sports Federation Yousif & Aysha Almoayyed Charity donated a multi-tasked Brother printer to the Bahraini Disabled Sports Federation (BDSF) last March. The unit was officially handed over at Ashrafs in Hoora by the charity Coordinator Zahra Hamza, in the presence of BDSF General Secretary Dr Sami Jassim Zubari.
Nissan Sunny 2015 for Batelco’s Child Care House Yousif & Aysha Almoayyed Charity donated a 2015 Nissan Sunny to Batelco’s Child Care House, in a ceremony held at Nissan showroom, in the presence of charity Head Salwa Almoayyed, Batelco’s Child Care House Vice Chairman Dr Akbar Mohsen, Y. K. Almoayyed & Sons - Nissan General Manager Paul Baker, and other staff. “We grant this donation to stimulate the principle of social solidarity,” Ms Almoayyed commented.

Charity Head Salwa Almoayyed handed the donation to Deaf Society of Bahrain Vice Chairman Aqeel Ali Hassan, in the presence of sign language interpreter Zainab Ali Ebrahim and charity Coordinator Zahra Hamza.
Mother’s Day Marked at Parents Care Home On the happy occasion of this year’s Mother’s Day, observed globally in March, Yousif & Aysha Almoayyed Charity arranged a visit to the Bahrain Parents Care Home. The visitors included Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons volunteering employees, who distributed gifts to all mothers at the centre.
Solidarity Visit to Children’s Cancer Unit

On the occasion of the International Childhood Cancer Day, Yousif & Aysha Almoayyed Charity committee organised a visit to the children’s cancer unit at Salmaniya Medical Complex, to provide moral support and shower them with gifts. The visit was held in February, 2015, as part of Edmaj programme.

Project: The Torch – Doha Project: JBF Polyester Film Factory – Hidd Honeywell GENT – Fire Alarm System CEAG – Central Battery Lighting System The project involved installation of Honeywell GENT Fire Alarm System, including smoke detectors, heat detectors, manual call points, and fire alarm input/output modules interfacing with equipment. Furthermore, CEAG (Central Battery Lighting System) was installed, to ensure the safety of building occupants – by providing a reliable light in an emergency situation.

How do you ensure and measure your customers’ satisfaction – both internal and external? For external customers, we use an outside agency that conducts a survey and, based on their findings, possible action plans are discussed. For the internal customers, we obtain feedback through routine interactions between divisions. We also listen to our customers’ comments, and arrange technical training for our team on a regular basis. What do you focus on when it comes to training your staff? We generally focus on safety, housekeeping, efficiency, and cost management. We have recently organised
a unique training programme in cooperation with Oracle University; we have delegated key Bahraini nationals to the UK for a workshop on logistics and warehouse management system (WMS); we regularly sponsor staff to help them improve their respective academic and technical skills. Plus, we rotate the staff between different sections, so that they can expand their skill portfolios. Can you tell us about the state-of-theart warehouse management system that you’re currently using? We had implemented state-of-the-art Oracle WMS about two years back. It has many advanced functions. Since introducing this system, our stock accuracy has improved dramatically. Part of what your customers expect is a smooth doorstep delivery of the goods. How do you make that possible? We have a well-organised delivery team, for delivery purpose. We try to complete each delivery within 24 hours. We also have
a dedicated fleet team and company cargo trucks as well as well-trained customer coordinators. What are the plans at this point for upgrading your department’s infrastructure? We are in a process of upgrading our logistics facilities across different countries. In the long term, we are planning to consolidate our logistics operations of automotive parts warehouse and implement best practices of logistics systems. What is the company’s growth strategy for your department? Are there any expansion plans outside Bahrain? We are opening a world-class Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons logistics facility at Dubai Investment Park for our electronics operations, in May, 2015. The warehouse will cover around 10,000 square metres, and it will be a benchmark logistics facility for the Y.K. Almoayyed group

How important is the purchase and logistics department in the company? This is a key department and one of the backbones of the company, as it adds value to the business flow – starting from placing orders, customs clearance, and storage to distributing goods to all the customers.
