Developed under the inspiration of the Blue Angels at the Naval Air Station, United States, the new car’s style is akin to the ‘jet fighter’ theme and ergonomic layout. Nissan Maxima›s styling showcases a new language with its V-Motion front end, signature boomerang lights, kick-up C-pillars and unique floating roof appearance. Dual exhaust chrome tailpipe finishers and 18-inch machined aluminum-alloy wheels depict a futuristic appearance, while the Nissan Maxima SR adds 19-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with a unique diamond-cut machined finish. The interiors boast a premium driver’s cockpit with deluxe padding on the sides of the console and genuine stitching on the instrument panel and doors, while a new Display Commander control allows touch screen functions. Sports Car Performance Nissan Maxima’s performance is substantially at par with many sports cars, moving it closer to its big brother - the Nissan GT-R. The 3.5-liter VQ-series V6 is redesigned with more than 60 percent new parts, providing 300 horsepower and an output of 85.7 horsepower/liter. Complementing the revised engine is a newer Xtronic transmission featuring wider ratio range, allowing stronger acceleration and D-Step shifting logic that provides rapid shifts at high throttle openings.
Technology An 8.0-inch color display features multitouch control for intuitive smartphone-like gestures such as swiping and pinch-tozoom. Please detail your history and involvement with the wide range of different businesses YKA expanded into. What have been some of your greatest achievements? In addition to selling plumbing supplies and construction services, one of the first milestones Farouk and I achieved was becoming successful dealers for Toshiba. At the time, the brand was losing its place to other competitions such as National, Sanyo and Mitsubishi. As their agent, we eventually improved Toshiba’s standings and achieved 85% of market share. In fact, we made a quite a name one summer by achieving record sales for split ACs. Through my sales experience and word in the market, I was confident more people will be purchasing ACs when summer arrives. Against the advice of my seniors, I insisted we order extra AC units ahead of time. Eventually when the summer season began, many dealers in the market had limited stocks of split ACs, while our shop had many for sale. We were the highest selling dealers that year through our sale of 4300 units; an achievement which remains as one of my fondest memories. We gradually expanded into the automotive and heavy vehicle industry, wherein Honda, Nissan and Ford were the first brands we represented. How has YKA worked to build a strong link between the company and its customers? What have you done differently? Our company was the first in Bahrain to offer installment payment options, it was a turning point for the business, attracting and establishing good relations with many customers. Through this strategy, we offered
convenience and also conveyed a message of trust by letting clients purchase a product with an initial deposit of just 20 to 50 rupees (currency used in Bahrain at that time). How has the ubiquitous mall culture affected groups such as YKA, how do you stay on top of the market? It is evident malls have made things a little uneasy, but we were successful in establishing our presence being wholesalers to hypermarkets and power retailers. YKA has also grown beyond expectations in the automotive and construction divisions.
Customers used to come to us and pay 20 to 50 rupees and happily, conveniently buy products. It was a turning point for the business
What are some lessons you’ve learned during your career with YKA, how are employee-employer relations here? Yousuf Khalil Almoayyed was a very proactive man, I observed him in everything he did to learn his ways. He was always on time, respected customers and rightfully guided his employees at every step. Yousuf never delegated orders and left us; instead he worked as part of the team. His son Farouk Almoayyed, the current chairman and the rest of the senior management has established an open door policy whereby they are willing to address employee issues and concerns with equal care and diligence.
Many employees stay with us for an average of 10 to 15 years, since they are taken care of here and it will always be that way. YKA workers are also eligible for and motivated to enroll in Employee Enhancement programs through our sponsorship. What are some golden rules you live by in your professional and personal realm? You have to be honest, it is best for you. I believe when you’ve accepted and signed a contract with an employer then you should work hard or resign. If you don’t like your job then you shouldn’t feel obliged to stay. I have worked diligently all my life, so when I see any department at the company slacking off, I feel very hurt. I’m more than 70 years old and I still come to work, although I don’t need to. I’m satisfied and happy here

When did you join Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons (YKA) and how did your journey begin? I have witnessed YKA progress from a little merchant shop in Bab Al Bahrain to becoming one of the leading group of companies in the country. After returning from Bombay, India in the early 1960s, there weren’t many educated Bahraini youth who could speak and write English. With an interest to pursue a career in business, I decided to explore potential opportunities in Bab Al Bahrain. That is where I met YKA’s founder, the late Yousuf Khalil Almoayyed. He was impressed with my English communication skills and offered me a position as a salesman. I progressed quickly and was promoted to Cashier, Assistant Storekeeper, Head Salesman and by 1963 I was their Sales Manager. We opened our first office when Farouk Yousuf Almoayyed returned from London, where he was pursuing post-graduate studies.

How has the auto industry changed? There wasn’t much competition amongst brands in the 80’s and owning a vehicle was affordable. I have witnessed drastic technological changes in cars such as transformation from carburetors to electronic fuel injection systems. What has kept you committed to your job for the last four decades? Honestly, it has been a privilege for me to have worked with three generation of the Almoayyed family, and this itself has kept me going for so long. Our founder, the late Yousuf Khalil Almoayyed has always been an inspirational figure to me and his legacy still lives on in the dynamic hands of our Chairman Farouk Almoayyed and all the other directors.
What is the importance of the “Parts Department” in the dealership operation? The parts and service department plays a vital role in the success of any automotive dealership. Customers always evaluate the “Cost of ownership” before buying a new vehicle. We are responsible for ensuring the right mix and inventory levels to meet the demand for servicing, repairs and sales to traders in the country. We have a 96 % parts fill rate and functional parts required for periodic servicing are always available on our shelves, which are replenished regularly. What has been your approach to “Customer Satisfaction”? We strive on providing the best ownership experience to our customers and the key factors to this are “Customer Focused”, “Timely communication” and “Customer concern Resolution”. What has been your biggest achievement at YKA? Being a part of the company’s growth has been my biggest achievement and seeing our valued customers happily returning back to Almoayyed has always been a satisfying experience for me.
Please tell us more about Fords Parts network in Bahrain. Our main parts depot is located in Sitra and we have 5 more outlets in Arad, Salmabad, Manama, Hamad Town and Riffa . We also have 60 part dealers to whom we supply original Motorcraft parts. Our network also comprises of two Quick Lane service centers in Arad and Salmabad, offering clients a concept of “No Appointments” and “While-you-wait” repairs that covers routine vehicle maintenance and light repair service. What is Motorcraft and why should people purchase genuine parts when they can buy replicas for a lower price? “Motorcraft” is an auto parts brand of Ford Motor Company, designed and tested to Ford engineering standards. They have a wide coverage and backed by warranties. We conduct a Motorcraft Brand Awareness Campaign every year that educates customers through leaflets, ads and billboards about the importance of using original parts. Counterfeit products are unsafe and eventually cause more damage to the car and end up costing more. For example, installing a non-genuine oil filter can ruin your whole engine. What advice can you give to new workers in the industry? Have a positive attitude, be passionate about your job and be honest and sincere in everything you do

Tell us about yourself and your journey with Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons (YKA). I was born in Bahrain, and completed my education in Bombay, India. As my father was also working with YKA, it was his wish that I continue in his footsteps. It has been 40 long years since then, and as I go down memory lane, I still cherish every moment of it.

ISO Quality Management System Training Conducted
It is commonly known as employee-centric, but we prefer calling it “people-centric”. We choose to make a difference.
Around 30 employees attended an ISO Quality Management System training that was led by visiting trainer Anand Nakhare, specialized in the field of ISO Auditing more than 30 years and currently working for a world class auditing firm called Intertek in UAE. Sonu Duggal, Group Manager of HR and Total Quality Management thanked employees for their active participation and the trainer for his well delivered workshop.
Outstanding Employees Awarded Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons (YKA) awarded 13 of its employees across their divisions for their excellent performances. “As part of our vision of developing our staff, these awards enable us to show our appreciation and motivate others to accomplish the same,” commented Mona Almoayyed, Managing Director YKA. Employees from across the group received certificates for their distinguished work.
Participation at Bahrain Raft Race 2015 The Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons Raft Race Team participated in “Bahrain Raft Race 2015” at Al Bander Resort. The race attracts many organizations annually in one of the biggest charity events on the island.
Employee Farewell A farewell ceremony was hosted at Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons head office, as a token of gratitude for Rajan who worked for 37 years in Al Aker warehouse as an Assistant Manager. He was thanked for his perseverance, dedication and commitment throughout his years with the company.

Giving Back to Society Y.K. Almoayyed & Sons has been fulfilling its social responsibility since its inception, and now it has a specialised team that supports various charity sectors in Bahrain.
Computer Training Hall Launched for the Deaf Yousif and Aysha Almoayyed Charity launched a computer training hall to support the efforts taken by the Bahrain Deaf Society in training the deaf and developing their abilities and talents. Fifteen laptops, tables, chairs, smart 55” TV, projectors and display screen for the education of the deaf and to conduct technical courses for employees.

Ramadan Donations Yousif and Aysha Almoayyed Charity distributed Food aid and Eid-al-Fitr expenses throughout Bahrain during the holy month of Ramadan. A donation total of BD 3000 was handed over to the Head of Bahrain Philanthropic Society. The charity also donated an A/C and a refrigerator to a needy family.
Pronto Devices Donated to the Blind Under the patronage of the Specific Council for Vocational Training in Retail Sector, Yousif & Aysha Almoayyed Charity donated five Pronto devices, worth BD 12,000, to successfully train and employ the blind and people with special needs.
Scholarship for Bachelor Study Programs The newly launched “Yousif & Aysha Almoayyed Scholarship” is a program that supports Bachelor university studies within the Kingdom for select Bahraini students who come from low-income families and have graduated with an average of 85%. How long have you worked with YKA and what are some of your best memories? I joined YKA more than three decades ago in 1983, it was my first job after completing schooling and being unable to find work for many months. I met directly with the late Chairman, Yousuf Almoayyed who then referred me to the HR manager. I worked as a mechanic for seven years, I was then promoted to team leader for five years. Later, promotion as Workshop Supervisor, my current designation, was one of my biggest successes and most precious memory.

I’m elated that I was selected by the Ministry of Labour for this honorable reward.

The company nominates employees for the ministry to review and select a winner based on various criteria. A competition took place at Ford, Almoayyed Motors Sitra, where technicians were tested for their diagnostic & repair skills and conducted a “Fix It Right the First Time on Time” step. The winner will take part in the Regional Ford Service Excellence Skill Competition.
