My grandmother is one who has tenacious grit. She holds onto a gritty and resolute mindset even during the toughest circumstances. Even if it meant the on-going 14 years battle with cancer, she displays a fierce and unconquerable inner strength till the end.

Having a personality that is quite literally the opposite of hers, her attitude of having unfaltering perseverance and persistence has always been a quality of hers I want to embody.

She is one who provides a safe harbour where love is freely and unconditionally given, creating an environment of acceptance and warmth. Whether it be times when I am feeling down, or just me saying “I’m home” after a long day, I know there will always be a warm response given in return.

Like guiding stars in a dark sky, she illuminates my path with her love and compassion.
