This is a series of illustrations based on a true event, telling the tragic story of 30-year-old Lam (real name Amuchu) from Guanyinqiao Town, Jinchuan County, Aba Prefecture. Lam had been a victim of continuous domestic violence by her ex-husband, Tang Lu, before their eventual divorce. During a livestream, Tang Lu suddenly broke into her home, attacked her with a knife, and then poured gasoline on her, setting her on fire, leaving her with severe burns. Despite Lam always presenting herself as optimistic and cheerful to the outside world, the reality of her abuse was kept hidden, known only to her family and friends. Lam had sought help from a police officer friend multiple times, but each attempt proved futile. Eventually, she was forced to give up custody of her child and divorce her abusive husband. This series of illustrations aims to portray the pain and struggle that Lam endured while also raising awareness of the often-overlooked societal issues surrounding domestic violence.
