PROJECT 01 NARRATIVE PROGRAMMING ‘WORK-PLAY’

Working in MLE team assigned for a chosen ministry, student to discover the ‘trending’ issue/topics, develop a concept ideas representing the allegory of the issue and interprete the findings into narrative representation.

Each student in the group to choose a suitable ‘entities/companies’ that represents the chosen Ministry, to explore, identify, invent and activate suitable spaces and divert to a functional programming approach.

PROJECT 01 PROJECT 01: BUILDING ANALYSIS; SITE EXPLORATIVE OBSERVE + EXAMINE + ARCHIVE = NARRATIVE Site: ‘The Row’ Address: Jalan Doraisamy, Kuala Lumpur The Row comprises of 22 nos of 1950’s shop lots on Jalan Doraisamy, Kuala Lumpur which were previously known as ‘The Asian Heritage Row’.

Research and analysis will be according to the topics below: PHYSICAL STUDIES ART + CULTURE BUILDING ANALYSIS + INTERIOR SITE MEASUREMENT & DRAWINGS

Task: The site is both a limitation to design and provider of incredible opportunities. Every site has its own physical attributes that comprised of memories and traces of its surroundings.

The neighboring buildings, materials used, form, height and other physical characteristic will affect and influence the design later on. In short, to understand your site is to find 'clues' that inform your design ideas. All these must be reflected from your study. The outcome of the information is to present in an Abstract Narrative (Storytelling) of your findings.

PROJECT 02 PROJECT 2: CONCEPTUALIZE SPACE NARRATIVE Objectives: To select and grasp a subject matter that students able to project it visually with great in-depth research and deconstruct of its characters and stories behind it or surround it thoroughly.

Analyze and display the creative space programming, its influences and decisions that inform your space design practice.

To conceptualize ideas from design thinking before the design process.

Task: Infographic Board & Conceptual Space Programming Shows rich info-graphic of the subject matter, design processes, activity, characteristics and its elements in narrative/stories manner. You are required to come out several keywords min 3 and max 5 that will help to guide in the conceptual elements.

From your research on the subject matter, you are required to come out a conceptual (in visual) space programming of how the space narrative will be for the users to experience the subject matter narrative.

STUDIO DESIGN II A MOVIE 'CAPSULE'

A large metal box for a standard design and size used for the transport of goods by road, rail, sea, or air. Container Urbanism: containers can be stacked, suspended, plugged, or turned on their side. Possible to left it bare, with the dents and scrapes of their past visible or painted, paneled, and covered by other materials.

FURNITURE DESIGN FURNITURE & MASS PRODUCTION

Student tasked to design panel-based furniture for a local manufacturing factory. Designs must be according to manufacture’s requirement that includes materials, budgeting and the capability of the factory’s machines.

WORKING DRAWINGS + SYSTEM INTEGRATION

This assignment requires students to produce a series of working drawings integrate with the collaborative design module. The objective is to enable students to produce documents with an integration of the building services components by working together in the design process and identify solutions to design needs with interior design proposal of appropriate building scale.

This assignment requires students to source existing precedent studies related to office design/coworking space, recognise the layout to extract the Schedule of Accommodation (SOA) and FF&E of the precedent study.
