Apprenticeships 2018/19

APPRENTICESHIPS JUMP STRAIGHT INTO AN APPRENTICESHIP AND START THE CAREER YOU WANT

An Apprenticeship is whatever your employer and you agree it should be; it can be a first step on the career ladder or it can be a Degree Apprenticeship with the same degree and graduation you would have if you followed the traditional route and paid your fees of ÂŁ9,000+ per year. The big difference is that you get paid as you learn and someone else pays all of your training fees; gaining valuable skills and experience, whilst working will fast-track your career and set you apart from the competition. Apprenticeships have changed recently. The Government have changed what Apprentices study in many cases, and have added lots of new Apprenticeships, including many at higher levels and Degree Level Apprenticeships. Within these changes the government have implemented an Apprenticeship Levy, where businesses have to pay more towards Apprentice training.

What are the entry requirements? To become an Apprentice, you must be in paid employment. Some Apprenticeships have a minimum entry requirement but entry is not based on academic achievement alone – practical skills, interest in the subject, your potential and your commitment are really important to us and enthusiasm is critical! As a helpful guide, for a Level 2 Apprenticeship you will need to work at GCSE grade 3 (D) or above and for Level 3 you will need to work at GCSE grade 4 (C) or above. If you’re not in employment already, don’t worry as we can also help you find a suitable employer; don’t let this be a barrier for you enquiring about an Apprenticeship. What are the next steps? Career opportunities are huge! The majority of our Apprentices are retained or receive a promotion from their current employers and many go on to secure even better jobs. Some Apprentices continue their learning, and with their employer’s support, they choose to continue their training and education with a higher-level Apprenticeship or Degree Apprenticeship.
