STRENGTHS What does your school offer you to set up your LRC? Initially, the school has offered their managerial support from different offices: principal’s office, storage/supply office, coordinator’s office.

WEAKNESSES What improvements would you need to implement in order to set your LRC? 1. Introduction of clear cut principles and guidelines in the school PEI and curriculum that stand for the pedagogical relevance of this type of projects.

What are the resources available?

2. Access to specific facilities where the LRC may operate without restrictions.

There is a general inventory of EFL reading books for basic, intermediate and advanced learners.

There is a good support by the school Principal and coordinators who have evidenced a real commitment to the potential opportunities offered by a LRC.

Although there are not specific facilities for the LRC, the school Principal has not disregarded the request for a specific LRC working area.

IED Alejandro Obregón has a LRC operating actively after 4 years. Its organization has permitted students access to different EFL resources.

My school should: 1. Assume the LRC as a specialized academic space that may promote students’ abilities, knowledge and competences in the use of EFL. 2. Draw institutional policies that truly support the LRC project as a core academic strategy.

3. Link to the ‘Programa Nacional de Inglés’ propelled by the Ministry of Education.

4. Allocate financial resources to the LRC project.

5. Establish agreements with local, national and international organizations/institutions which may support the LRC project.
