Mother of baby burnt by Israel settlers dies

Mother of Palestinian baby, burnt

by Israel Jewish settlers to death five weeks ago, succumbed to death on Monday.

Reham Dawabsheh, who was critically wounded in the arson attack carried out by the extremist Israeli settlers five weeks ago on her home in the Palestinian village of Duma, died of her sever burns.

Her death brought the number of victims in the attack, which was exactly carried out by the settlers on July 31, to three –baby, father and mother.

has been fighting for her life at the Israeli Tel HaShomer Medical Centre for over five weeks.

Her baby son Ali Dawabsheh was burned to death and her husband Saed Dawabsheh, who suffered burns to 80 percent, fought for his life for a little over a week before he succumbed to his wounds.

Reham’s elder son, four-year-old Ahmad, is suffering from burns to 60 percent of his body and still in serious condition, but has shown positive signs when he woke up and communicated with his surroundings only a day before his father died.

13,000 PALESTINIAN STRUCTURES UNDER DEMOLITION THREAT Some 13,000 Palestinian structures in the West Bank are currently under Israeli demolition orders, leaving residents and homes “in a state of chronic uncertainty and threat”, the U.N. said on Monday.

Israeli soldier fails to arrest Palestinian boy

An Israeli soldier failed on Friday to arrest 12-year old Palestinian boy in Al-Nabi Saleh village of the occupied West Bank.

The Israeli soldier chased the boy, who was away from an anti-Israeli protest, and called on him, asking him to stop walking. Then, he rushed towards the boy, attempting to arrest him.

According to a video and several photos, went viral on the internet, the Israeli soldier, who was masked and holding an automatic gun, put the boy under his hand and asked him to move along towards the gathering of the other troops.

However, the boy, who had his hand broken and he appeared in cast, started crying and refused to go with the masked Israeli soldier.

A number of the protesters nearby heard him and approached the Israeli soldier and did their best to release him.

Later on, the boy was identiďŹ ed as Mohamed Basim al-Tamimi, 12, and the ladies, who pulled him from the hands of the Israeli soldier, were his mother Nariman al-Tamimi, his sister Ahed al-Tamimi and his aunt Manal al-Tamimi.

PA: Israelis tour Aqsa compound Palestinians barred entry Israeli authorities on Monday restricted the access of dozens of Palestinians to the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound while allowing right-wing Israelis to tour the holy site, officials said, continuing a pattern that has gone on several weeks.

The Palestinian Authority Ministry of Endowment said that Israeli forces had set up iron barricades at the compound’s gates and prevented Palestinian women and some youths from entering.

Israeli forces also held the ID cards of all Palestinians permitted entry, the ministry said.

Meanwhile, more than 70 right-wing Israelis reportedly entered the compound via the Moroccan Gate under armed police escort.

The ministry and witnesses said that the right-wing Israelis performed religious rituals at the al-Rahma Gate, while Israeli police prevented the compound guards from intervening.

Senior Palestinian officials have expressed concerns in recent weeks that Israel is restricting access to the compound in a bid to establish daily Jewish prayer, despite an agreement forbidding non-Muslim worship at the site.

A Palestinian woman, Um Ihab al-Jallad, said that the Israeli police were continuing to prevent 45 women whose names have been “blacklisted” from entering the mosque compound.

The third holiest site in Islam, the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound is also venerated as Judaism’s most holy place as it sits where Jews believe the First and Second Temples once stood.

She added that Israeli forces detained one female teacher, Hanadi al-Halawi, and took her to a police station for interrogation.

Al-Jallad added that Israeli police on Monday also banned Ikram Ghazzawi from entering the compound for a period of two months, saying that she was the third woman to receive a ban this month.

She said that Palestinian women were continuing sit-ins at the gates of the compound to protest the Israeli government’s “plans” for the holy site.

Israeli authorities have not responded to the claims.

Following Israel’s occupation of East Jerusalem in 1967, Israel has maintained an agreement with the Islamic trust that controls the Al-Aqsa compound not to allow non-Muslim prayer in the area.

Jewish prayer is allowed at the neighboring Western Wall, which is the last remnant of the Second Temple.

However, Israeli forces have regularly escorted Jewish visitors to the Al-Aqsa compound, leading to anger among Muslim worshipers.

At the end of June, International Crisis Group reported discussions between Israel and the Islamic trust in Jordan on allowing non-Muslim worship at the site, although the move has not been confirmed.

Just in Gaza, grooms attend wedding via Skype Anadolu, Gaza Strip –Israeli, Egyptian and international siege have been imposed on Gaza for nine years obliges grooms to attend wedding parties via Skype.

In one of the wedding halls in the Gaza Strip, bride Salwa Reziq is sitting alone on stage her groom is nowhere to be seen, he works in Qatar and, because of the ongoing blockade on the Strip, is unable to attend his wedding.

Everything in the wedding hall seems ideal except Salwa, 24, who is sitting without her groom, Khalid Reziq, 29, who is watching the wedding via Skype.

Salwa has been engaged to her cousin Khalid for one year, awaiting his return to Gaza, however, she lost hope and decided to organise the wedding alone and then travel to Khalid when the crossings are open.

“I feel sad for marrying my daughter off to her cousin without his attendance,” mother of the bride Sameera, 49, said. “We waited for him to come back for a long time, but in the end, we decided to take this decision.”

Such wedding celebrations have become common in Gaza due to the almost continuous closure of the Rafah Crossing, which is the main terminal for the more than 1.8 million Gazans to the outside world.

Egypt closed the crossing in July 2013 when General Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi carried out a military coup against the first-freely elected Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi. It is now only open sporadically.

Huda Faris, 23, said she couldn’t fully enjoy her wedding because her parents, who live in Kuwait, were unable to attend. “I had never imagined I’d get married without my parents being present, without holding my father’s hand,” she said.

“We waited and waited, but decided to organise the wedding without them,” she added. “My brothers attended my wedding, but that was not the ideal wedding I had planned for.”

Thousands of Palestinians have been living in diaspora for decades.

Huda’s father is working in Kuwait and could only watch the wedding party via Skype. “It was not like a wedding party,” she said, “it was like a conference to exchange old memories when we were together.”

Sheikh Hassan Al-Jojo, head of the Sharia Court which registers marriages and divorces in Gaza, said that many engagements are being broken off because of the difficulties couples face in uniting and crossing the border.

The Israeli occupation has imposed sever restrictions on the movement of Gazans since 2006, when Hamas won the Palestinian general elections.

Since then, Egyptian authorities have closed the Rafah Crossing.

Five more Pal prisoners go on hunger strike

Five more Palestinian prisoners inside Israeli jails announced on Monday going on hunger strike.

Israel Prison Services (IPS) said that the five Palestinian prisoners had begun an open-ended hunger strike to protest their continued custody under Israeli “administrative detention” policy.

Qadura Fares, head of the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society, an NGO, confirmed that the five Palestinian prisoners began their open-ended hunger strike on Sunday.

Israeli policy of “administrative detention” allows prison authorities to hold suspects without charges or trial for renewable periods.

According to official Palestinian figures, over 6,500 Palestinian detainees are currently languishing in jail throughout the self-proclaimed Jewish state.
