About Us

Ruang Peran is an emerging production house based in Bandung, Indonesia.

Founded in 2021 –in the middle of raising pandemic cases and restrictions across any places and activities– a group of young creatives from film studies, communication science, and visual design, gather to create something they believed to be meaningful and having an impact.

Ruang Peran believes in having the role: to fill the space and bridge the gap between fresh perspectives and real-life phenomena that are potentially inspirational. While keeping the young to middle generation's need in mind –to gain insights which are simultaneously entertaining.

The creators take time to do research and development through discussion and validate their standpoint in order to produce valuable stories. They have a collective aspiration in creating audio-visual content with engaging narratives, to make it more acknowledged by the society.

Documenting the stories and roles of Pencerah Nusantara team from CISDI in responding pandemic early stage issues. Focusing on three districts in Bandung City with the highest COVID-19 case.

(Make Way)

The pandemic impacted many things; many ‘routes' were closed as a result. The film follows three different stories in Bandung City about people making their way through limitations. Those who seek, create and execute their own way of continuing to live and create meaning for themselves and those around them.

Makna Manusia

A group of students in West Java tried to find the meaning behind different lives. Through "Makna Manusia", they depicted daily experience of marginalized people -buskers, commercial sex workers, people with disabilities, PLWHA, trans women, and the MSM community from the glittering city of Bandung. Those who voiced their matters while trying to fight the stigma amidst the hardships of earning a living.

Crafting After Program Videos; individual and community impact. The individual video highlights the story of Dea, a transfer child whose having a hard time adapting in her new school circumstances. While the community impact video covers different stories from students, teachers, and stakeholders, reflecting benefits and takeaways from Gap Inc. P.A.C.E. and Care Peduli’s program throughout past months in their school.
